do bulldogs make good pets or are basset hounds better?

I never had bulldogs, but I have had basset hounds. I wouldn't trade my basset hound for the world! They are giant lapdogs. Sweet and loving. Basset hounds cost way less than a bulldog too.

I don't know much about basset hounds but I have a bulldog and I love these dogs. Bulldogs are mostly laid back and very loyal. They don't like alot of excersise. I haven't seen to many hyper bulldogs. They can be expensive but try a bulldog rescue organization, sometimes if they consider you a good match for adoption you can get one for free or for little cost.

Well you cant really compair two totally different dog breeds. Every dog is different. Even if they are the same breed. They each have their own personalities. I would suggest you go to a Bulldog breeder and a Basset Hound breeder and decide which one you like better.

what kind of bulldog are you looking for? assuming american...i personally would go with a basset hound, as they tend to be very sweet and mild-mannered. how your dog turns out, though, really depends a lot on the training they receive.

I have friend that used to have one of each and both of them are good pets, their bulldog was dump as a doornail though even though I loved the big lumox

i have a bulldog and she is wonderful. she is very smart and loving. she is also protective. any pet is going to be what you make it. if you want a good pet you have to take up lots of time with it.

I cant really say. because not all dogs are the same. they may be the same breed but they all have different personalities. some may be agressive and some may be sweet. i would say get a bull dog to show everyone that they can be different. everyone underestimates them because of rumors and their names.

You should really find out all about both breeds. They are both wonderful dogs but not for inexperienced dog owners. You need to find out if either are compatible for you.
