Because I was woken up at 10:00AM on a Saturday morning one too many times by two guys who wanted to help me find Jesus. Or the two women who rang my doorbell and after finding out I was and atheist, pointed at the ugly tree in my yard and told me that beautiful things don't just appear, they must have been designed. And for all the people who have died at the hands of those who believed whole-heartedly that they were doing God's will, regardless of their religion.
Dogma breeds intolerance and persecution. I just want to stop the delusional insanity.

Because, like it or not, every question is open to every possible answerer. Christians take every opportunity to answer "atheists only" questions as well. You ask why Atheists can't just leave Christians alone with their beliefs. Here is my answer: Christians do NOT leave Atheist alone with their beliefs either. As a matter of fact, religion is pushed unto everyone in the United States on a daily basis. I could give MANY examples, but it would take too much space, and long answers tend not to get read. If you want some, e-mail me. BTW---- You directed the question to Atheists (now, I haven't looked at your replies yet) but, I am willing to bet there are MANY Christian answerers.

It can be an open discussion board. It may be just a rumor, but I heard that once a christian virtually posted a response in a query directed at atheists. However i'm sure he wasn't a real christian...

Because the only questions that are directed to them are stupid questions like, "If you don't believe in God, how do you think the world was created" or "If you don't believe in God, how do you think Jesus came back from the dead?" They must get tired of that just as how I get tired of "Can God create a rock so big he can't move it" or "What created God?"
Ask more intelligent questions toward Atheists and maybe fewer of them will post answers on questions that were intended for Christians.

After 18 years in church, two of which were spent in seminary, I often step in to answer dogma questions, little fine points. I'm not disrespectful about it--I just answer the question. I don't do opinion well, and my academic training has actually pushed me away from expressing personal opinion over fact.
Example: Someone asked earlier today where the comforter Jesus promised to send was. My answer was "The Holy Spirit, who descended at Pentecost." Even if I don't believe it, I know the answer.

I used to BE one. I'm not trying to cause confusion, I'm simply answering from a perspective that I've previously espoused and recall quite distinctly. I don't present myself as a Christian. I present myself as someone who knows the answer to the question based on equally legitimate personal experience.
And I don't "leave believers alone" because they don't leave me alone. By that, I mean their personal beliefs are influencing the way I'm required to live my life. Their religious doctrine is being unconstitutionally legislated into the SECULAR laws I am bound to follow.
Forcing people to accept some particular idea or adhere to behavioral standards from someone else’s religion means that their religious freedom is being infringed upon.

it incredibly is an open communicate board. it ought to be in basic terms a rumor, yet I heard that when a christian unquestionably published a reaction in a question directed at atheists. yet i'm optimistic he wasn't a real christian...

The fact that there are questions directed toward Christians alone indicates to me that they are only interested in hearing from people who agree with them. Same goes for questions directed at atheists only. I answer questions that interest me.

Why do Chrisitans believe themselves to be the only religiously correct people? How do you know that your Bible is true? The bible was written by man, and thus is open to error. The bible even in some part contradicts itself. I'm not trying to bash someone's faith here, but who cares? In your opionion they all go to hell anyway so does it matter? Plus as mentioned above this is an open forum, where people's opionions can be discussed. So don't complain.

1. This is an open forum. If you want opinions to be censored when they don't agree with you, post on beliefnet.
2. The only reason you oppose atheists answering questions is you are afraid of the answers. If your religious arguments had any validity, you would welcome any and all questions.
The strongest argument isn't the one with the strength to silence it's critics. The strongest is the one that withstands the most questions.
