Harry Potter isn't really all that difficult reading and the story is so absorbing that it is not surprising that an interested reader would finish them quickly. I would suggest seeing if your local community college offers any "college for kids" courses and see how she does in those. If they are simple for her, you might want to have her tested. Either way, I wouldn't go so far as to call her a prodigy, unless the book she is writing is the next In Search of Lost Time.

Well you would want to take the book she's writing to a publisher to see an experts opinion on it, about 4th grade or fifth grade is common for a child to have read all harry potter books by.

Sounds like she is pretty focused. I couldnt get any 10 yr old I know to sit still for that long and read the books. I dont know about investing money on anyhting right now. I mean if she is wrign a book you should get with her school and see if theres any type of program to help young writers. Maybe theres some kind of programt he school can contact about helping her ger her book published and maybe she can get a scholrship out of it or something.

The Gallagher female series by best pal Carter - even as i change into youthful, i change into enthusiastic about this series. It has mild romance, there is really some kissing, yet there is action and a sturdy lady heroine. there is actual no magic - merely spies. i might want to assert the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, which deals extra with mythology (i'm not particular if that counts as magic, inspite of the indisputable fact that this is extremely strong and relaxing) and there is really any romance. i do not even imagine there is romance easily except for perhaps a kiss contained in the cheek contained in the suitable. there's a Boy contained in the girl's bathing room by Louis Sacher - I loved this e book even as i change into youthful and retread it diverse cases!

Uhhh prodigy? Pffft, I know a 8 year old who has read all the HP books, all the LOTR books, all the Artemis Fowl books, all the Eragon books, all the Chronicles of Narnia books, and perhaps more.

Plus, she writes stories at http://www.fanfiction.net So far she has written a 34 chapter story with 56 thousand words.
It's normal, she's just obsessed with reading and writing is all.

No, those books are written on a 5th grade reading level, so she isn't reading any better than she should. Encourage her to continue reading, but the standardized tests public schools do every grade or every other grade would identify her were she gifted in a particular subject. If she is not already identified as gifted she may be later identified (I was identified as gifted in math, english, and in "superior cognitive "in 7th grade even though I wasn't in the gifted program in my elementary school).

I think it's absolutely fantastic!! You should probably have her tested, then decide whether or not to invest $$ in.

A lot of children are reading more due to the Harry Potter books, and I think it's fantastic that JK Rowling has invoked this behavior.

I know many ten year olds in my son's class who have read all the harry potter books. It definitely shows intelligence, because they are not super easy. I think that reading and writing are fairly normal for this age. But definitely encourage it.

She is focused.
She probably has a creative mind.
She will grow up and probably be good as a writer, newspaper person, accountant, etc. Jobs that require good writing and the ability to focus on the subject in front of you, without any distractions around you.
