Since you are a woman, it is unlikely that you would “endanger your friendship” by expressing romantic interest in your friend.

While the same is not true for a male friend who expresses such an interest in a female friend, it is unlikely that a male would feel uncomfortable continuing a friendship after turning down a tasteful offer by a girl to make that friendship something more.

I was best friends with someone for about four months, and when I was little drunk one night I wrote a letter to her, telling her that I was very interested in us being more than friends, that I admired so much about her and that I felt a connection to her. I slipped the letter under her apartment's door and went home to sleep it off. Three days later she called me to tell me that she couldn't ever feel comfortable with me again.

Never spent another minute with her. That sucked, but there was no sense in "dreaming" about her if it wasn't going to happen.

Either be friends, or be more. You can't be both and you can't go back to being friends after dating.

Figure out what the benefits are in telling him and see if you can derive those benefits more directly.

If it means you'd be able to walk down the street arm in arm, then why not just walk down the street arm in arm. If a benefit would be that you'd be able to share your intimate thoughts with him, then why not just go ahead and share your intimate thoughts. If its going out on dates, kissing him, etc, then just do it.

It can scare a guy when you try to define the relationship through words.

I think you should wait it out. My ex-best friend and I both found over a period that we had feelings for each other and messed everything up by taking it to the next step, so take it so and easy. Be aware that you may very well lose your best friend if you do decide to pursue it.

Tell him, even if he doesn't think of you that way at least you got it off your chest and if he's a decent good friend he'll still keep liking you and feel flattered.

keep quit about it. It not worth losing a friend unless he a new friend or is a casual friend that you don't hang out to much.

very tough, the possibility of more is always promising, but what you could lose has a great weight. i would say if he has shown interest than you should go for it

Just leave it for now, but try getting closer to him and see what he does.
