This is a very good question - it's made me think.
The only answer i can give is that with a site like this most people don't really give a great deal of thought to their answers. they are either out for quick points or just getting their personal opinon across. It isn't really a debating site is it?
I have firm Christian beliefs and am secure in my faith. i do not feel threatened by people who think differently to me - and I do not feel the need to insult them either. I think those who tend to insult others who think differently may be unused to debate or discussing religion where people accept others' opinions with respect without the need to slag them off. I hope in saying this some people do not feel insulted - it isnt my intention.
It was during my time of studying religion in a secular university with Christianity on a level playing field with the other major faiths that I was able to work out just what i do believe and what I don't believe. I was then able to do a masters degree in theology in a Christian college having worked through many insecurities in my faith and having made some friends with the Muslims I had studied with.
I hope this goes some way to answering your question.
My personal beliefs have been validated by my experiences of trusting in God, seeing prayers answered and my life transformed rather than as a result of thinking and saying that people are wrong if they do not share my beliefs..
A big part of the problem is that Christianity, as well as Islam and to a certain extent Hinuism (and probably the other faiths) and especially atheism, is founded on the idea that the beliefs ARE true and therefore if those beliefs are opposite to other beliefs the other beliefs must therefore by logical steps be wrong. Its simple logic. Mix in with this the emotions felt by those of us who believe someting that's important, then you have an explosive mix. think about it - if someone misunderstands and is insulting about members of your family, you are going to get angry - the same emotions are in play for those with religious beliefs.
And if you've got to the end of this - thank you for 'listening' to me waffle.
happy new year to you all
and may you be blessed by God (however you experience God)

Well, I've been told to never discuss religion or politicss at the dinner table. lol
Religion and politics are things that people have "extremely" strong opionions on usually.
To get people to even just have some kind of respect or tolerance
about another's religion would be a gigantic start. .....but not
too likely.

All ways to God cannot be true if they contradict one another. Therefore it's very important to know what is true, and what is not. It's not about competition or being right. It's about the truth. I believe the claims of Jesus Christ, that He is the only way to the Father. I also believe knowing this is very important, because eternity is a very long time.

I'm not into religion bashing but I would understand why some choose to attack other people's faiths. It is because logically, not all religions can be the true path to salvation. There must be right and wrong. It's common sense.
God knows best.
Peace and Love.

Hm...i've got consistently questioned somewhat approximately it, yet you're suited! you have an extremely prepared eye and ideas! super interest! i think of that Kevin is extra out of their purpose advertising variety so as that they think of of him as much less substantial; i'm not asserting I dislike Kevin..purely proving a factor. yet there is likewise Zac Efron...he's 21....properly, i don't get why the editors try this. and that i think of that he's warm purely like Nick and Joe. Joe is eighteen and he continues to be warm, and Kevin is barely a trifling 2 years aside and that makes him gruesome??? what's up with that??? Zac Efron is 21 so does that make him gruesome, too? purely because of the fact Kevin is older does not make him gruesome. And this makes me experience undesirable. Kevin won't be my renowned, yet continues to hitch the band and merits to be taken care of with admire. Why do people try this? that is talked approximately as empathy...it would not experience sturdy...ever! Starred circumstances 10!

Because they conflict and there can be only 1 truth if 2 statements conflict.
Now, do you want to live a life of compromise and no conviction, or do you want to truely seek the truth?

Ignorance and arrogance along with dualistic thinking... that is what makes up the minds of those who feel they have the market cornered on "correctness", "righteousness", and a few other "-ess's". Until people actually learn that not everybody thinks the same way, nor believes the same things, it'll go on and on and on...

Yea and just to compare!
Who is your favorite football team or basketball, base ball or political party's. Is there much difference? When the numbers are shown, you don't even go to church. Or you spend for pay for view but not taxes for schools or roads or community projects.
It suc ks reject that what directly helps you.

Good question. I do not need anyone to validate my beliefs, they are mine and no one else has to share them. All I ask is that you show me the same respect I will show you, regardless of what your belief may be.

I know what you mean :) I read the R&S category, but I don't tend to post - my opinion doesn't matter to anyone else, only to me.
Would be nice if more people accepted everyone else views and beliefs.
Just because someone believes in God, doesn't mean that I have to. And just because I don't believe, doesn't mean that anyone else shouldn't.
Heres to tolerance!!
