My brother's got a 2000 F250 Diesel and I've been trying to figure out what transmission is in it. It's an automatic and I've narrowed it down to either an E4OD or 4R100. The trucks a rebuild so the sticker doesn't say which it is and both transmissions have an identical pan shape. Thanks for your help!

If I remember, it was stopped being called a E4OD and became a 4R100 when the new super duty trucks came out in 1999 (based on their own body and not a f-150)...

The pan won't say what it is , but usually if it's behind a triton (OHC) gas engine it was the 4r100.. Technically on the diesel, even if it was a rebuild... If the 2000 YM engine computer is in the truck, it should be a 4R100 (as I think the differences were mainly valve body and the 4R100 allowed for a power take off (they have a plate on the side if I remember for it) compared to a E4OD

Crawl under the truck and look at the part number on the side of the transmission. Its usually on a metal tag attached with a bolt on the side of the transmission case driver's side.
