I mean..I gave him a set of poker cards and a fake roulette set for his 11th birthday just few days ago and since he expressed enormous interest in the cards and roulette, should I teach him how to play? But im scared he might be obsessed with gambling..ya know he's already a bit going to the extremes in love and im really worried it might harm him in the future..should I teach him?

If you gave him the stuff, it is a little late now. Show him how to play, teach him responsibility, and play for chips, not money.

Gambling affects people differently. Personally I would'nt teach him how to gamble... no.

Gambling is a disease and for some just people hooked on Crack Cocaine. They can't quit.

Horse racing is the same way. Several years ago, I played $500.00 on War Emblem in the Kentucky Derby to WIN and guess what it paid off big time. It was my very first time ever gambling on a Horse and I won. I chose him because I like the Black Horse and the Golden Letters WAR EMBLEM..call it what you want, but that is why I chose him and I know nothing about Horses.
It was the last time I gambled on a Horse and won. Win or lose I was willing to flush $500.00 down the toilet.

I won the $500.00 on a $1.00 scratch off ticket in Georgia called Jumbo Bucks. What are the odds that you play a dollar and win $500.00

I gamble yes, but usually .50 cents on cash 3 straights or box.
It is all about fun not winning. You gamble responsible. If I had not won those $500.00 on a scratch off I would'nt have gambled on a Horse.

Today, I gamble about one or two bucks here and there to enjoy winning if I do, but never frown if I lose and my losses are very small with big payouts when I win. If I can buy a pack of cigarettes for $2.65 a day and burn it up in smoke then I can play $1.00 a day and take a chance on getting that money back where as a pack of cigarettes you get nothing back, but Cancer.

Luck????
You make the call
Gamble? Do it responsibly for fun

First of all, you should have NEVER given him any type of 'gambling stuff'! Back off of it for a while. Get him interested in something else. Once he shows interest in something else - you can get rid of the roulette set and poker cards. Don't allow him to watch any of it on TV either.
Sit down, with your son, and find out what he's really interested in. As long as it has nothing to do with gambling - then go that direction.
Adults have too many bad habits as it is - they don't need to start these bad habits at such an early age.
Remember, you'll never get him married off to a decent woman if he has tons of bad habits.

Sure WHY NOT? Maybe he will just gamble His Life AWAY!

Don't get him in college, or some Worthwhile Profession! Don't make him a Responsible Member of Society!

Just let him...... Gamble His LIFE AWAY! [NOT!]

Maybe then he can join GA, and tell Quaint Stories = HOW HIS PARENT GOT HIM = ADDICTED!

Why else does "Circus Circus in Vegas" cater to Kids and Parents! They have the Parents and the Next Generation = OF KIDS!

Thanks, RR

I believe that you should teach him the right and the wrong of gambling. He has the right to pursuit the things he is interested in but you have to be sure to tell him that there are consquences that come with it. Too much of anything can be bad. Any obsession can cause harm but sure to know all the consequences before getting yourself into it.

Why`re you so worried that your son is going to turn out terribly? He sounds like a normal 11 year-old boy.

You can teach him if he`s interested, but make sure to let him know that he can`t gamble with friends or anything, at least not with real money or objects. Explain to him that it`s just for fun.

my daughter is 9 and she likes cards. just because they know how to play doesn't mean they will be addicted to gambling.
depends on the morals you've taught your child. and with the love thing? that's just a young kid thing. in "love" one day with someone and tomorrow its somebody else. don't worry about it (unless "extremes" means stalking or some other awful thing)
then get the kid counseling

no. do not teach him to gamble. especially if he has an extreme personality. it could ruin h is life. if you must play poker and roulette, do it for fun without a prize.
