He loves everyone and very submissive. I am not sure of the best way to correct him from his jumping since he is so low to the ground. He is 4 yrs. old and I was also wondering the best way to socialize him with cats.

That dog is is even six iches off the ground how high could it atually jump. Tell the people that he jumps on to get over it. As for socializing him with cats. Unless u have one don't worry about it.

Teach your dog that you will ignore him or her when they jump up. The dog is trying to get to your level and get attention. When the dog jumps up turn your back and say "No". It will take some time but the dog will learn that jumping up gets no reward. It's just like anything else. It's conditioning. Sooner or later the dog will get it.

omg!!! some of the answers you get!

first, never hit or use a squirt gun on your animal, it is very degrading and you wouldn't like it used to train you. your dog should be treated with respect.

when someone comes over, kneel down on the floor with him, hold him down, but not hard enough to hurt him. calmly tell him down, and good boy, give him a small treat. we used frozen green beans and popcorn to train our 3 boston terriers. everytime someone comes over for 2 or 3 days do this routine with him. after that, bend over to him, hold him down, tell him down, and good boy, give him a small treat. gradually he will understand that if he jumps he is not doing what you expect him to do. but don't forget to give him the oppurtunity to jump on you with some one on one time, they need to feel the love from you andto express their personalities.

we have 3 dogs and one cat. all of the dogs know how far to push the cat. it only takes being smacked one time from her to get her point across, she is declawed too. our cat was sitting behind the vertical blinds on the sliding glass door, her tail has whipping back and forth as she was watching a bird outback. the puppy reached down and bit her tail, she spun around and smacked him 5-6 times before he could let go! he hasn't done it again.

good luck....

My dog has 3 cats. He knows not to hurt them. YOU have to teach them. Not squirt them........ Treats are very effective and the tone of your voice is the biggest way to get their attention. It takes time and patience.

everytime he jumps on someone squeeze his paws. trust me it works. and uhmm you can just borrow a cat or go to a friends and socialize. let them meet. but if he doesnt like them dont force him to like them. Happy New Year.

When it jumps, put it down and say no. But when you say no please dont say it meanly.
Then your dog wouldnt like to do around you.
Dont you use anything that would hurt your dog
Just use your voice and hands
