There are several free sources for locating financial aid to attend college as an adult. It does take time to hear back from the source though.

First, fill out the FAFSA form. It will help you tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. Also, it is based on income and financial resources. This should be sent in for every school year you attend college.

Second, check with the college's financial aid office and website. It has a list of private scholarships offered by outside companies and organizations.

Third, go to the public library because they have a book listing scholarships. Some are not even listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information that a person enters into a form on the website.

Good luck!
