If they know, they should of got you professional help. And yes, you can still be WHATEVER you want when you grow up! You just have to work for it. Iv'e been through a hell of alot and I'm a single young mother, but still a full time college student on my way to being successful and FAMOUS! And I will be, its a fact :) LOL. In the meantime, if they know and are doing nothing about it, you need to take action yourself. Obviously you're seeking help. If respect yourself and your body, you will tell them that you need professional help ASAP. You will be happy in the long run if you do. Trust me. Stop it while you can. Good luck honey.

Cutting yourself and not eating is trading one pain for another. The pain inside your head is much more destructive than any physical pain you inflict on your body. As your mind breaks down, your body follows. And vice versa. Sounds like there are some underlying reasons for that.
Is cutting a tool for attention? Not in the way some people think it is. But yes it is. It's your outside trying to communicate that there's something inside that needs addressing. You stated above that you're a good student and a cheerleader. Are there some expectations that you're trying to meet, either from your parents, your friends or even yourself? If so, is maintaining a certain status worth the toll it's taking on you? No it's not. These days people drive themselves crazy physically, financially and emotionally in the race for a good image. Give yourself a little slack. If you have to cut some corners in your active life, do so. Don't worry about not becoming a techer or a psycologist because of what's going on. Some of the better counsellers and teachers out there have been through similar experiences with themselves. They're better because they've been there, so they know how to relate. Talk to your parents. If they don't want to listen, then make them listen. But don't do it by causing physical harm. Go to the emergency room, tell them what's going on and what you're doing. They'll point you in the right direction. There's help out there. They're willing to help. Just listen to them when they talk. Good luck and I hope for the best.

I understand you. I'm so sorry that the adults in your life are not responding to your pain in a productive way. Have you talked to your parents? If you haven't, please tell them about your cutting.
Your cutting is NOT just because you want attention. Cutting can be about different things. Often times cutting is about trying to focus on something other then the emotional pain going on inside you. Sometimes people cut so they can feel pain, because they feel so emotionally numb, they don't feel real. Cutting helps them feel real.
You ARE NOT CRAZY! Cutting is very common among girls especially. But it is very serious.
Please talk to your parents, because you need to get some help from a dr. If you feel like you can't tell them, talk to the school counselor. I don't know where you live, but in the US there are crisis lines you can call. You should beable to find that number in the phone book or get it from information.
Don't stop asking for help until someone listens. I am so proud of you for talking about a very scarey thing to those adults.
Eating disorders are also very serious. I don't know as much about them, but you need to tell the same adult about it.
As far as being a teacher or psycologist when you grow up. You will beable to be whatever you want, sweetie. You aren't crazy and you will deal with this. And this will make you a teacher sensitive to her students needs. We need those kind of teachers. :) Your gonna be OK.

I completely understand what u mean...i used to do exactly the same. Sometimes i wouldn't eat for days and i used to cut a lot. I don't want to suggest that you shouldn't see a therapist, maybe if I had it would have made my life a lot easier. But, I never did, and I eventually managed to get over it. As for the cutting, what mainly made me stop were the scars. I still have very bad (and very obvious) scars on my arms that I have to make stupid stories up about, even though most people don't believe them anyway.
On the bright side, I am a teacher now, so yes, it is possible :)

Sweetie, what's wrong? Do you feel like you're not living up to peoples' expectations? Do you feel sad all the time? Did someone hurt you? Is someone hurting you now? What is it that makes you feel like you need to hurt yourself? There are lots of reasons why people cut and starve themselves. It might not seem like a big deal to other people, or it might be so horrible that it's hard for people to hear about. You might not even know what it is. But there's something bothering you, and it would really help a lot if you could tell someone about it.
I cut myself too, so I know it's not for attention. But people who don't know much about cutting tend to think it's for attention because for a small number of people it is, and they're the loudest about it. That's also the easiest to understand. People do all kinds of things for attention, and people can understand that someone might go that far for attention. It's harder for people to understand that cutting might help someone deal with something, so they tend to ignore that possibility.
Starving yourself isn't a good idea. What will happen is that you'll lose a lot of weight and look really unhealthy. Before long, your body will run out of fat and start burning muscles, including your heart. Your organ systems will start to shut down, and your heart might even stop. Eventually, you'll die.
Sweatheart, you can do anything you want to when you grow up. What you're going through now might even make you a better teacher or psychologists when you grow up because you'll be able to relate to students or clients who are going through some of the same things. The only thing that will stop you from being whatever you want to when you grow up is if you don't grow up. Jessica, eating disorders do kill people. You need to start eating again, and if you can't do that, you need to talk to someone who can help you. No matter how scary or unappealing that may be, you need help.

u will get seriously ill or die or sumit if u dont eat, cutting is not attention seeking i think its an emotional release well it was for me. I don't see why you cant be a teacher or psychologist when you grow up just because you have a history of an eating disorder or cutting. I cut (i'm trying to give up) and i really want to become a music teacher or psychologist when i am older, good luck and please eat something and possibly get some help for the eating disorder you may have and the cutting.

i dont know about the no food question or about whether you can teach or be a psycologist. but i know some of what you dealing with, as i cut too. i would encourage you to seek help but you mentioned that and it doesnt sound like its going well. i myself went after help and was met with stares of bewilderment. i replied to this because i know what it is like when no one understands, and i wanted you to know that i dont think your crazy. far from it actually. alot of research shows that self injury, si, is a form of coping and that it is used to deal with emotions that the injurer, you and me, are not capable of dealing with otherwise. keep persueing help and do try and eat something. if you need to talk i would be more than willing shaspig47@yahoo.com
