I have the fortune of having an atheist as a good friend. I am a Christian and initially I wondered if our friendship was a "good idea". I ended up facing those hard questions, entertaining doubts and in the end, I find that my faith is stronger.

Doubt is a GOOD thing. People should not be afraid to entertains doubts.

My most recent experience was when my beloved grandmother passed away. I suddenly found myself thinking "what if I am wrong? What is there is no eternity? What if I never see her again?"

I went through several soul searching days and spent some time reading what the bible says about heaven. I also read an account of a man who died for 90 minutes and spent some time in heaven. I now feel a greater confidence in the afterlife and I am glad I entertained my doubt.

I'm a Christian, and I've never doubted my faith. Sometimes, I think really deeply, though:

"If there are so many religions, how do I know Christianity is the 'real' one?"

Then, I think about my life and my friends and my world. There's no way that a statue or an idol could've built us. We didn't evolve from monkeys, that's just an insult. I believe in God because I know He exists, even though it's hard to explain to most people. I doubt my faith only when I face hard times. It's normal. But I always will believe in my religion.

Any serious believer will question his/her faith from time to time.

The simple fact that there are atheists who question the existence of God makes one think. Beyond that, there are so many different faiths that an honest person cannot ever be 100% sure that his beliefs are correct.

We all have setbacks in our lives, and it is natural to question "why" when things happen that we do not understand.

Yet, faith means believing despite doubt. Even the greats, like St. Thomas Aquinas, had their doubts.

Yes! Jesus himself said in different occasions, for his disciples like peter, "why do you doubt?", "you have little faith..." Having doubt doesn't proof that God is wrong or there is no God but it shows that how humans are not aligning themselves according to the "Word", the BIBLE (Basic Instruction Before Living Earth). Disappointment comes from appointment. When you expect God to do something for you according to your will and when God is not providing that for you, then you will have the experience of mistrust and doubt. We ask the question (prayer) according to our will and limited knowledge, but God answers according to his word, his will, his knowledge...our brain capacity have no enough hard drive, Giga bites and high RPM to understand and process how all things work, let go and let God.

So the recipe for avoiding doubt is
1-Have a relation-ship with him and know him well to the point where you can think like he thinks.
2-Have a fellow-ship with him so that the question you ask is not just because you have a need or selfish questions or erelevant for God.
Shortly abide in Him he will not fail you to the point where you doubt him to death.

Never doubted my faith in God or Jesus.Only in man and there teaching. So I go to church ,hear the word .Study the word on my own.The preacher better be able to back up what they preach with the Bible.I do ask questions.A lot of people don.t like me because of it.I also ask to see the finance reports. Is my money going to the right places?Does the church feed the poor?Cloth the naked.Visit the sick .A father to the fatherless?
So if the church does not line up with the word-move on.<><

I know absolutly that my salvation is assured. I do not doubt the existance of God. I know for a fact that God exists.... as to my understanding of God's Word and Will for me...yes I have doubts...every one of The True Christian faith dose in one respect or an other... The greatest source of doubt for any of The Faith is our worthyness to even be concidered by God... every one of The Faith knows their own Faults and weeknessess... we know we do not measure up to God's full expectations for us...The weaknessess of human beings are present in those of The Faith just as they are in every one else... doubt is going to creep in... each individual is different in the whys and hows... but those of The Faith know that God is there for us and will never take our Salvation from us.... regardless of whatever doubt may cause us to stumble on our walk with Him.

Yes, I've often doubted my faith. I honestly don't know why. Maybe because I was in a major backsliding time in my life. That and being a human being.

What really troubled me the most though, was when I went to someone who I thought could help me, like my former minister's wife, she just shrugged it off and said that I was letting Satan get to me. Needless to say, I no longer belong to that "church." I prefer to worship at home.

Hope this at least partially answers your question.

It was BTW, an excellent question.

i'm additionally a Christian (and that i did use to have OCD indicators or clicks), I additionally over examine issues and that i did use to have doubts approximately God, Jesus and The Bible besides (I nevertheless do on occasion yet now basically to an exceedingly small quantity). i got here across that exploring my faith, exploring my ideals, analysing my doubts, attempting to make experience of it, know-how that some areas of the Bible perhaps metaphorical and not literal and specially finally Trusting God and Jesus, first and ultimate has not basically resolved maximum of the themes yet in addition reinforced my faith in God. For me to purely suppress your doubts and pretend its not there would not look to artwork yet extremely seems to chip away at my faith. for this reason I chosen to examine my faith in God, ideals in God and Jesus Christ or perhaps look at my doubts and in connection to my faith (if it somewhat is wise). you will desire to make certain to have faith God first and ultimate, comprehend which you would be able to not comprehend and comprehend each and every thing, have faith God's judgements to be ideal and don't overlook approximately your doubts yet extremely detect them. I did all this (written down) and my faith in God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit got here out better as a result than it became in the previous.

For Christians, faith is in a Person -- namely the Lord Jesus Christ. So, while we use doctrines to as an aid to understanding what we have in Christ, they're not in themselves the object of our faith. Faith is centered in and derives its vitality from our relationship with the living Lord (John 6:69; Matthew 7:21-23).

Secondly, we're not abandoned to develop the faith relationship on our own. Jesus is both the author/founder and perfecter/finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). He actively works in His flock to complete that which He started -- it's His work; the development of (and hence surety of) our faith rests in Him.

Certainly I have (very well founded ;-) doubts in myself -- my capabilities and faculties are very limited. But because Jesus is alive and actively pursuing a loving relationship with me, I have confidence in Him. He is trustworthy. (2 Timothy 1:8-14)

I have at one point & then God showed me his word is true, we should hold onto the faith. The only thing in this world I doubt is half the churches today trying to add their beliefs beyond the bible. My father told me whom is native american, that people put more problems on themselves, & God didn't want that. If we would only read what Pslams says & listen to God, & follow him, we would have less stress on ourselves.
