Get the water to *almost* the boiling point -- there is a slight lull before water boils, and that's the spot where you should use the water to pour over the grounds in a French press.

Boiling! And, the correct way to use the press is to push the press down halfway, let it sit for 5 - 10 min then plunge it the rest of the way. Depending on how strong you like your coffee, add water to your cup after you've poured in the coffee. Hmmmm enjoy!

just cooler than the boiling point (212 degrees?--i forget) bring the water to a boil and let it sit for about 10-20 sec. It should be just about perfect by then.

Bring water to boil....turn off and let stand just a minute......add water to carafe and wait about 4 minutes before plunging........course grinding coffee will produce a much cleaner cup.
