Lice have become immune to the store treatments. A nurse told me to use mineral oil and vinegar. Mix a solution 50/50 and pour it onto hair and rub it in. Put a shower cap on the childs head for about an hour. Wash first with Dawn dish liquid to get the oil out then wash in regular shampoo and condition really well then use a lice comp. Works wonders!!!!!!
I have also found that the dandruff shampoo Denorex works too, the chemicals in it kill the lice and like I said store bought remedies dont work anymore.
Which ever treatment you decide to use make sure you wash everything you can in hot water and dry them in the dryer, the heat kills the nits.
a
Also if your child has stuffed animals put them in a garbage bag and put them up for two weeks it will kill nits on them too.

My suggestion is pretty much the same as Mr. Burns. You could get Rid or something similar. Just remember that you have to do two treatments a week apart. And always comb through the hair with the comb provided. You do also have to make sure you wash all her clothes, especially ones she may have worn and then put back away because they weren't visibly dirty. Wash all her linens. Vacuum off her mattress, carpet. Check everyone else in the family too. Maybe shampoo her carpets. Boil her combs and brushes. I would say the LiceX is worth a try. Remember that lice iare very contagious and they prefer clean heads so it's not a matter of lax personal hygiene. Also when I was younger I had lice and they only thing I remember is my mom humiliating me and being very paranoid about it. It's not your daughter's fault.

This is going to sound crazy, but it works. You can avoid the toxic chemicals in those shampoos from the drugstore. Buy a big jar of mayonnaise. Not the light or fat free kind. It has to be real, full fat mayo. Put a thick layer in her hair and cover her head with a shower cap. It has to stay on for 8 hours. It will smother the hatched lice and will make the nits (eggs) slide out of the hair easily. You'll still have to comb the nits out with a special nit comb. It would be a good idea for you to do it at the same time, since they have likely jumped onto you as well. The mayo will get warm and stinks a bit. It will also run a little so just keep wiping it if it drips. This is still a better way than putting those chemicals on her hair (and in her body, because it does get absorbed). Good luck.

My sister had lice and we tried almost every lice treatment there was. Even the stuff that the doctor gave us didnt work. We ended up coating her hair in mayonnaise and suprisingly it killed the lice. Lice do not like oil, and seriosually it killed it.

You can use tea tree oil on the scalp. Use it directly on her hair and then cover her head with a shower cap. I am not sure how long it is recommended to leave this on but leave it on for an hour or so and then wash her hair with a shampoo that contains tea tree oil. Be sure to take all of her bedding off of her bed and clothes and wash them in super hot water. Also consider buying new brushes and combs for her instead of trying to clean what she has . Brushes are fairly cheap so why risk reinfection.

Nix is an over the counter shampoo that comes with a special comb to get rid of all the nits and their eggs. Very effective. I have also heard of a home remedy from my child's school (they sent home a note about lice being a problem about a month ago) stating to use mayonnaise to get rid of them. I don't know about the mayo but the nix works and is inexpensive. Wash all of her bedding to or she'll get reinfected. Good luck.

Gosh it's awful when girls get lice. When my son got it, I just shaved all his hair off. Get a lice shampoo. Be sure to use the comb. You have to go through and get out all the nits or they will keep coming back. Throuw away her hairbrush and get her a new one, dame with any hair ties she might have worn recently. Change all of her bedding and wash it really well. None of this will help if you don't get the nits out of her hair because they will keep coming back. There is a spray that you can get to spray on her mattress, sorry I don't know what it is called.

There are lots of over the counter shampoos. Make sure you move on it fast and clean all the bedding and lienen as the eggs may still be there and she will get reinfected.
