This is not the way to lose weight. First of all you would be excreting all the most vital vitamins and minerals that your cells and organs need to be healthy and vital. My oldest daughter did this for years and let me tell you, she really really messed her body up. She lied about it to start with because she was smart and really knew that this was an absolute no-no. But she got hung up in body image and thought if she was thin she would fit in. I am obese myself and you know what, all overweight people need to be comfortable with themselves in all aspects. Laxatives are for losers and I hope I do offend you. I am aiming to state only the facts and the lessons my daughter and I learned together. You might state, that you will be in control, right? But if that were true, why have you let yourself get so desperate that you seriously think that pooping it out will make all the calories go away that you have consumed. You will end up lying to not only yourself and others as you take box after box. Then your body will not know that these are just a temp fix. You will become dependent on them and let me tell ya, have you ever been so constipated that it really really hurt to go. Well after a period of time this will happen even with the laxatives. I must point out the facts here that the reason we are overweight to begin with is that we love to eat, are not as active as we should be and get into the comfortable cycle of eating the fast and convenient means of eating food that is not healthy for us. I would strongly suggest you begin at least writing down in a journal to yourself why you feel laxatives are a means of winning the battle of the bulge. Try it, what have you got to lose but the truth as it comes back to you in your own words in front of you in black and white. Then add to this journal of what you are eating, amounts, etc. Are you eating because you are hungry, frustrated, stressed, depressed? Write this all down. Eating healther and more sensible is hard work and it will take time. Laxatives are a very bad short term fix for what is really the issue. Bad eating habits and exercise habits. The sooner you get a grasp on who you really are and be happy with that aspect of your life the more successful you will be in not just gaining control of your waistline, but in other areas of your life as well. Please do not begin this regimen. I would suggest counseling if you can afford it. But listen to some of the adivce you will be getting, it is priceless as it is our own experiences.

No.

Laxatives are a stimulant that are used for constipation. Laxatives will not help you lose weight because by the time you defecate, all the nutrients from the food (including calories and fat) have already been absorbed into your system.

If you want to lose weight, eat less calories and exercise more. Try drinking a tall glass of water before every meal, eliminate breads and pasta, and eat more lean meat and veggies.

ABSOLUTELY NOT..and if you know anyone who is taking them to do so..get them help.

A laxative works in your colon and not in your stomach all weight has already been gained by the time the waste makes it to your colon. All the calories are already gone. All you will lose is water and waste weight which will have no effect on FAT except the enability not to lose it since you've lost all your water.

Taking these pills can cause you to become dehydrated which can easily lead to death.

You can also have electrolyte disturbances that can lead to heart attack or heart arrythmias.

You can also get severely constipated from over use of laxatives.

People who think a laxative keeps food from absorbing into the body are crack heads.

The only thing a laxative does is help you have a bowel movement. The more laxatives you take, the more dependant your body becomes on needing them to have a bowel movement. Before you know it, the only time you will be able to have a bowel movement is when you take those laxatives. Lose weight the old fashioned way. Excersize and cut your sugar intake, it's easier.

They help your bowel movements. Taking laxatives on a regular basis can damage your intestines among other organs. It's not a wise decision to take laxatives for more than 1 week. They may help you lose a couple pounds, but it a unhealthy way to make yourself lose weight.

No. Not in the long run and could cause real harm to you body. Wieght loss w/ laxatives is only temporary. you are not burning fat by taking lax. to lose wieght. And worse, this could create dependence on lax.
Everyone can benefit w. hight fiber to loose wieght. Fiber is not the same as lax although both have same result. If increasing fiber in your diet besure to also increase water.

You will only lose water weight, not fat. Not good for you, I've heard some people get hooked on this and can't stop. Then they need laxative all of the time just to have normal BMs.

Crap, I guess there really is no easy way to lose weight......

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

That's a dangerous way to go. Laxatives are habit forming and they can ruin your digestive system. A good diet is a much better and healthier way to lose weight.

Long term use of a person using laxatives to lose weight, will do more harm than help. I read that after a while, it could cause you to lose control of your bowels.
