Think about things that matter to you. What are you concerned about?

Illiteracy?
Animal rights?
Children's health?
Homelessness?
Hunger?
The Arts?

If you have the money, support charities you care about with monetary donations. And if you have the time, support them by volunteering. Know your talents and interests so your volunteer experience can be rewarding for both you and the organization you're serving. Are you organized and efficient? Maybe you could help with office work (filing, doing spreadsheets or reports). If you're good on the phone, maybe you could call the organization's donors just to thank them for their gifts. If you're good with people, you could be a tour guide or a docent or work at the information desk. Maybe you're good at manual labor and can help with maintenance or cleaning. Maybe you can just help with general errands like delivering packages, stuffing envelopes, addressing mail, etc.

Find something you're passionate about, match it to your skills and abilities and you'll have a very rewarding experience!

Join a charity? I believe you are looking to donate your time to a particular charity. If yes, then a great way to find a charity that needs volunteers is at http://www.volunteermatch.com. You can search by type of charity (i.e. animals, health, youth, literary, etc..) and zip code.
