Should I dye my hair or have it cut first?

I dye my own hair.

You should always color or tint your hair before cutting it.

Why?

Because the freshly cut ends of the hair shafts will absorb more coloring making your hair color look uneven.

If you're having a drastic amount of hair cut you may want to consider cutting first, then dying, then having your hair trimmed into the style you want, this way your color will be more concentrated, it won't be spread over so much hair. If you're only having a small amount cut, then dye it first. This way the color will be the most even!

Never dye your hair because once it grows out you are gonna have to keep dyeing it!

Cut it. Dye can ruin your hair, and if you happen to have an allergy can be dangerous. If you cut it, you might find you like your hair colour.

It depends.

If you are doing a major change in length - going shorter, your color will be cheaper if you cut the extra length before coloring. Otherwise, you pay for hair you are leaving on the floor. In every salon I worked in, we charged for color according to length.

If you are NOT going shorter, color first. Color has to be put on dry hair anyway.

cut it then dye it because if you dye it first and then cut it the highlights might look weird depending on the haircut!!

My sister dyes her hair alot and i find it looks nicer when been cut then dyed.
