Do you think it's impolite to ask someone her age?

Im not talking about someone under 30, but say someone over 45.

My parents said it's a very rude question to ask. Personally, I agree, but what about you?

No, bc it's really not relevant and someone wants to gratify their "noseyness."

They are really seeking to evaluate that person - whether or not the woman looks "younger," or "older," than her chronological age.

I'm proud of the way I look for my age - yet I'm bright enough to know that there is more than the superficial.

A pretty face is not the entire story. Nor should we run around "evaluating" people based upon their looks. Many a toxic personality is disguised by a beautiful exterior.

It's also sexist, as it seems that very few people run around wondering or asking a man's age.

People that are obsessed with figuring out another person's age are also the same types of people that thrive on gossip and really have no lives of their own. There are larger issues in the world to be concerned about.

It IS fairly impolite...many women are uncomfortable with the process of aging...historically speaking, after a certain age a woman served no purpose other than to be a burden on her family, while that's certainly not the case today, it's an ingrained sort of feeling.

And it's a very personal question to ask of someone that you're not very familiar with.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. Age is just a way of documenting how long we've been here on earth. I think people need to let go of the little things and start worrying about how we're killing our own in the name of "God", how we're getting rich on the poverty of others, and how we ridicule others to make ourselves feel better.

In society though, at least for right now, it is considered rude to ask a woman her age.

Yes it is rude. But not the rudest thing you can do. Publicly stating a woman's age is horridly rude.

Most women are very sensitive about their age because of the notion that after a certain age, they can no longer have babies. Having babies is also a sensitive issue to most females so it's understandable.

Just ignore the subject of any woman's age.

Only sensitive people mind being asked about their age. In the words of the great, late Aaliyah, "Age aint nothing but a number".

Always considered rude and NEVER appropriate ...

*** though on a note I have noticed once a lady reaches say 85 years she will often become very proud of her age and will anounce it freely.

haha It's just a joke honestly...Most women don't mind giving their age. Maybe it was a pastime etiquette or something, but we're in the modern era where women are doing just as good as men.
