Dont think about the pain!! If your really want the design you will put up with it!!!
My forearm/wrist ink was easy as, just felt a bit scratchy,
Neck tatt was a bit uncomfortable because of the vibrations, kinda made me feel giddy.
Pretty full on places for a first tatt. Make sure the design is properly planned and drawn up before you get it. Its there forever so it better be damn good!! Make the artist work for his cash.
You will be fine, the application of tattoos are more irritating than painful.
Best of luck

Tattooes in general hurt pretty bad, so don't let anybody tell you different. The bad thing about the neck is the awkward position you'll have to be sitting in but it's probably less painful than the wrist. The wrist is a thinner area so the needle will kind of feel as if it's going straight through. Both will hurt, so it's really up to you, pain really shouldn't be an option if you really want it.

I don't think your neck would hurt as much as your wrist, but I could be wrong. I got one on the back of my neck around a year ago, and it wasn't very bad at all. A friend of mine has one on her wrist, and she said it hurt a little bit. I think it just depends on how well you deal with pain too.

Wrist and neck tend to hurt a great deal. I have one on the back of my neck, it wasn't the most pleasant of my tattoos.

The thing is...all tattoos hurt and if it was something you really wanted, pain wouldn't matter much to you. Depending on your personal threshold for pain, it can be tolerable or unbearable. Only thing I can suggest is take a few Motrin or Midol before and try your very best to relax.

I had thought that it was going to hurt much more than it did. I'd go for your wrist as a first timer over your neck. The neck is going to really hurt, and you can't hide it as well. I had it on my ankle...and you actaully get used to it...its more annoying than painful.

There is a much larger cluster of nerves in your neck compared with your wrist. I say do the risk if you're scared.

I got one on my neck and it was fine, but my girlsfriend got one on her wrist about 1 1/2 weeks ago and she is still in pain.

pretty bad, those are two of the most painful spots, but choice of two dont get one on your neck cos it can really hurt your job prospects, you can always cover your wrist up a lot easier than a neck.

Imagine getting a butter enema with a hot awl. That feels good compared to getting your neck tattooed. Besides, what are you going to look like when you are old and wrinkled and got white hairs all over your ears and upper lip.

Maybe like one of the three crones in Hamlet who are stirring the boiling cauldron. Reconsider having one or more of these atrocities placed on your young body as when you are older you will regret it.
