Have you ever been in the store and a kid starts screaming at and hitting the parent because he/she wants something in the store, after the parent already told the kid no. Then the parent, turns around and gives the kid what he/she wants, just to get them to be quiet? That is so annoying, to give the kid, what he/she wants, but i'm more annoyed by the parent for giving the kid it's way.

I agree. Alot of parents are afraid to discipline their kids for fear of someone calling it abuse and reporting it. And there are other parents who are so stressed and wore out that they do anything just to appease the kid(s) so they are quiet. Unfortunately the kid(s) learn that if they continue that behavior again, they will get the same results... what they want... so it never ends. Then they wonder why their kids grow up to be people who don't work or commit crimes. Never phases them it's because they never had to learn how to control their behavior and make an effort to work for what they want.

I actually have seen parents stand their ground in stores. It just makes me want to go up and pat them on the back just so they know that not everyone in the store is annoyed because their kid is making a big fuss.

I had to go through the same thing but with my neice. My sister would let her daughter get away with everything and at the time they were living with me so my kids got treated really bad and finally i had enogh and i flat out told my sister that her daughter was a brat and i loved her but i couldnt stand to be around her and that made my sister see that her daughter was tearing the family apart and now she has changed the way she raises her daughter.

yep i have seen it happen . and parents are to blame for giving in to there kids. my son tryed this with me when he was 4 years old kicking and screaming . i took him outside to my car and lets just say, when i returned inside the store with him he knew where his manners where and how to act like he should have to begin with .i don't think theres anything wrong with warming your kid's butt's up when they need it . if you do it in the right mannor. my son is 19 years old now and from that day he knew what he would get if he did not behave in public.

But imagine if the kid actually got a swat for misbehaving!
She'd has people accusing her of child abuse.

my son has acted like that before in the stores. i refuse to give in to him because that is only teaching him how to manipulate me. if he does that and it does not work, he will be less likely to do it again.
you have to take the time to teach your kids respect. if they don't respect you, they will not respect anyone.
