(As this is a proposed legistaltion for the UK)

What's funnier is that Scotland will adopt it first.

Concider: this is the same country where you can LEGALLY has sex at 15 (all UK), married at 16 (with parental consent), vote at 16, can drive at 17....

...BUT can't buy alcohol (18) , CANNOT watch 18 cert movies (18)... and now they want to say they can't smoke.

So at what point does a person what can get married, have children, vote in an election, drive a car become responsible enough to choose for themselves if they can smoke or not?

ps. I don't smoke, never have, never will. But just concider the political 'big brother' lunacy yet another invasion of out civil liberties.

Yes, and even better, don't buy cigarettes at all. I'll not stand on my soapbox too long, but I've lived quite awhile and have lost so very many friends and family to shorter-than-necessary lives, painful deaths, expenses beyond measure in loss of family fun/necessities/social events.....all due to cigarettes.

Trust me. Don't ever even think about starting smoking. You will be glad you didn't, and so will everyone else.

in what country is this?? b/c in America the age of smoking is already 18 and we still have people younger than 18 getting their hands on a cigarette. i dont think it really makes a difference whether its 15 or 30...if someone wants it they'll try to get it.

i think this is great... we need to raise the age of other things aswell... such as alcohol and sex!!!
it not gonna stop underage children buying tobacco products, but it will stop them from being so young.. lets see a 13 yr old pass as 18 now instead of 16!
let children be children for as long as they can! once ur grown up there no going back! as hard as we all try lol

Well I don't know if its a good or bad thing, but I know that people will continue to do it anyway (most people I know used to smoke before it was legal for them!)

i think its great and think it will make a big difference within a few years. u will find a lot less 13/14 year olds getting served but then again u can get fake id every now a days so....

i would say so yes because it will make it easier for retailers to judge the age of the person purchasing it and someone in school uniform won't necessarily to be able to argue so a huge thumbs up from me

Probably, but if kids really want to smoke that's not going to stop them.
