It's definitely more risky and dangerous for both.

However, in today's society, it's worse for a woman to have more partners. It's not my opinion in any way and is unfair and sexist, but it's typically how many people feel. If a man has multiple sexual partners, then it's no problem. If a woman has multiple sexual partners, then she gets around. Society views women as seeking an emotional side to the relationship, which should lead to them having fewer sexual partners. Men are viewed as just trying to have the physical and sometimes emotional side, and therefore can have as many partners as they choose.

It's a double standard, but it's definitely worse for a woman to have more partners. The social stigma associated with a promiscuous woman has a basis in disease control. A lot of STDs occur inside the vagina for a woman, and they may not know they have them. Even if they get the semi-annual check-ups (most women only do it annually if at all), there is quite a high probability they will pass it on in between check-ups.
That is similar with guys too, who won't usually go to the doctor unless it burns when they pee. The social stigma attached to the promiscuity of a woman has to do with the passing of the disease to the potential children, making them a less desirable partner.
