but that person is very expensive, she leaves too soon and doesn't do things right, so my mother has to redo them, and it's getting worse, we really don't need her but we used to and now we keep paying her because we are afraid to tell her we don't need her anymore, she's got a strong character and will react in a gross manner almost for sure. I don't want my mother to get upset but I don't want that woman to use us. to make things worse,at the beginning of the year she usually asks for a sallary increase, and it's already really high, what would u do?
many thanks and happy new year

You -- not your mother --need to sit down with this woman and spell out the things she needs to get accomplished each week. Tell her that you cannot give a raise every year unless her work improves.

Keep track of the work she does --go and look after she is done and has left. make a checklist for her and tell her that you will be checking to make sure things get done.

If you feel that you have to let her go, just tell her that you appreciate the work she has done in the past ( Lie a little, for the sake of harmony) but you are able to handle it now and you cannot afford to pay for the work.

If she says anything out of line, just tell her to leave and tell her that she is not to contact your mother for ANY REASON -- if she has a problem, she needs to tak it up with you.

if she does not respect that, call the police and get a restraining order against her for harassment. Then call the police if she violates the order.

Take back your life and that of your mother. You are all being bullied and she can't do that without your permission!

I totally understand the situation , I had a similar experience in the past. The best way to tell her she is out, is to tell her that your current financial situation does not allow to keep paying her. I am sure for the sound of her that she will not be interested at all in a job that cannot pay her. What I also did in the past , is to speak to a couple of alternative candidates so that when the nasty one is out of there , you can hire someone to help your mother right after wards. You might be able to get a cleaner that comes every other week , with a lower rate per hour - If that is the case , you and your mom will be so much better off !

You are the one paying the bill. All you need to do is tell her you can not afford to keep her employed. You do not have to get picky about the job she is doing or how you feel about her. If you are very wealthy, tell her you re-evaluated your mothers finances and determined it was best to invest for her future long term care.

Inform her that you will be letting her go by phoning her or when giving her her pay, tell her that it will be the last and you don't need her service anymore.
