If a startup entry is invalid, then you should get an error when you start your computer regarding the startup entry in question. That should tell you which ones are invalid.

If there are programs that run on your computer on startup, and you don't want them to run on startup, I would open that program and look under the options. You'll usualy find a check box with something to the effect of "run at startup." Then just make sure that the box is unchecked.

I recommend the use of the Windows startup manager http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
You can remove invalid startup entries from startup applications list.
Also fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

You haven't supplied the list that you are presented with

Anyway you can goto google and put in the details and it should tell what the process is

But you can usually disable all of them these are programs that only start up when windows starts - these are not critical so you can get rid of all of them -

except if you are running nortin anti virus >> then put a tick in the CCAPP

then restart

Usually if you look at the directory in which the file is located, you can guess what program it goes to. But unless it is a program that you need running all the time in the background (and for most people the only one they have is their virus scanner), you can uncheck it without harming anything. If you have problems, you go back and recheck it. But normally you can uncheck everything.
