I just want to know, do you think it is still possible to get pigeons and have them deliver messages, like they used to WWII? Just wondering. If you do know where I can get some in florida, please let me know.

Sure it's possible.

Just go to either the American Racing Pigeon Union website at: http://www.pigeon.org and look for their band list, or go to the International Federation of Homing Pigeon Fanciers website at http://www.ifpigeon.com/

Look for the bandlist at either site and simply search for those clubs in Florida which are near you.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE though, if you are going to use the birds as messengers, please use the capsule that can be attached to the leg. They can still be purchased. DO not ever try to use a rubber band to tie the note onto the leg. I've seen it done when I was a boy and it only causes gangrene since sometimes it cuts off the blood circulation.

Why would you want a pigeon to carry your letters? I'm pretty sure it will be hard to find a pigeon breeder but if you do to the pet store you can buy a dove, they look a lot prettier than pigeons and are tame. If you are desperate, don't try to catch one in the city because they carry dangerous sicknesses and are very dirty.

I grew up in an exceedingly small city and intense college replaced into have been all the interest replaced into different than for having inebriated and making out. I even did a number of that for the time of college. LOL that is annoying to have faith I survived intense college and that i replaced into an "A" pupil. college is have been ladies have been and have been I performed soccer so I had a blast. It did not harm that by the time i began out intense college my Dad had stop eating (He replaced into between the worst alcoholics I even have ever seen) . mom replaced into nevertheless a discomfort yet Dad and that i grew to grow to be ultimate friends, So i assume my view of my intense college years is slightly biased. the college Dances have been vast activities in a small city that had one action picture tutor with only one show screen, no speedy nutrients eating places and no shops. We did not get Rock concert activities coming interior a hundred and fifty miles so i did not see my first stay stay overall performance till I went away to college till you count huge form close by bands enjoying on the Dances.

lol there's plenty of them in front of my house!
lol i guess it would be like any other bird-taming experience, except if you get an older pigeon, it would be harder to tame.
of course it's still possible! it's just that it takes patience and we really have no emergency or reason to do so, but yes, i bet it is possible

Check your local feed store. You are looking for Homing Pigeons. I would think that your local bird club could help you with that too.

Good luck!
