in a town near where I live, there are a lot of hispanic/mexican illegal day labor workers hanging around the train station trying to get picked up by contractors, etc... The residents were not happy about these people turning a public place into a seedy, dirty and sometimes dangerous hangout for the illegals. The local police put out a sign saying that no one is allowed to use that parking lot as a day labor exchange /pick up spot. But these illegals who have turned a once lovely, quaint little town into a seedy ghetto sued the town for "VIOLATING THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS"!!!!!!

and guess what, THEY WON THE CASE!!!

what the hell is going on?
does "human right" apply to those who aren't even legal residents?

as far as I can remember, I have not seen or encountered illegals who solicit for work outside of business or public places who are not hispanic. So, I AM SORRY IF I AM OVER-GENERALIZING

If the parking lot is owned by the rail company, the company can put up signs "No Loitering" and they can enforce this by calling police. Then your town police can do their job.
If the parking lot is public lot, Day labor have right to be there. You cannot guessing all Hispanics are illegals; There are very few things your town can do in this case. We have same problems in Virginia.

It must be wonderful to live in a town with ONLY the problem of illegal people trying to work. ( I wonder why they bother since they are all on Welfare according to most people here.) We have more problems where I live with prostitutes hanging around certain areas and drug dealers in swarms hanging around other areas, and then the panhandlers.. I agree that perhaps it was the way the sign was worded that caused the grounds for a lawsuit, but I would need more details.

You have not included all the details, nor a link to the transcript, or court decision, so it's hard to answer your question.

One possibility (remote, but possible) is that the judge(s) involved in the case have read the First Amendment to the Constitution. You know, the one that talks about peacable assembly among other strange concepts.

If you consider this case to be a problem, then call the INS (ICE) and let it be known that illegal labor is being hired at that location.

Good luck.

This is truly unfair and there should be an appeal of that case. Like someone else here said, change the signs to no loitering and have the police check their residency documents when they come to arrest them for loitering.

tell them to change the sign to no loitering and no vagrancy, and see if the aclu can work around that one,it is appalling to see this, your best plan of action is to change the signs and to follow the people who are hiring the day laborors and antagonize their businesses

Typical - we need our military back to protect our own country with the order to shoot on sight - no exceptions!
