If you live in an area where icicles form in the winter, you know that icicles are normally clear and beautiful. There are two things that make icicles so perfect:
Icicles are made from pure water in the form of melted snow.
Icicles are created in layers. Water drips down the icicle and freezes in progressive layers rather than freezing all at once. This approach avoids entrapped bubbles.
If you ever look inside a restaurant ice maker, you will find that it makes ice in layers. Cold water runs continuously over a plate or a grid where the ice is forming, and the ice cubes (or ice disks in some machines) grow in layers.

I believe this is done by spraying the water into the underside of the freezing element the form of which is an inverted cylinder and slightly conical. For some reason ice that is formed upside down is clear. As the ice expands it automatically ejects itself due to the conical shape.

i bought a clean refrigerator with an ice maker. i bought the perfect, a minimum of maximum costly, hose that Lowe's had. It became a braided hose, very flexable, and had the installation on the ends. Our ice tasted undesirable. The water out of the faucet tastes large and the ice we made interior the previous refrigerator became good. I replaced that braided hose to the smaller, semi clean stuff and the flavor went away. Make a tray of ice cubes interior the freezer the previous way and spot in the event that they flavor ok. in the event that they do evaluate changing the hose.

Cloudy ice is caused by flatulent fish. Ice machines have a special secret fish-fart filter.
