Windows 98 is so sorry and using sooo many system resources that I'm just fed up will take all suggestions! help please

Nope, XP is not free. You must buy it.
There's a good chance that your Win98 box might not be up to the task of running XP. You really need a 500 MHz system with at least 256 MB of RAM to run XP reasonably. And 512 MB of RAM is highly recommended.
You'd do much better buying a cheap new computer than trying to shoe-horn XP onto most Win9x boxes.

First off it sounds as you have Windows 98 installed on your computer. If per say this is true forget about Windows XP as you wont have the system to support it.
Unless you have a friend or know someone that has a copy it's very un likely you can get one FREE. All Windows software comes with a Key Code and you will need that to keep it legal.
