As another poster suggested, your local library's a brilliant place to start, then if you find any titles you particularly want to buy, you'll have all the info to hand. Local bookshops especially independent ones often have a good stock of local history/ natural history/ geography books available.
Just by keying in "north east england" coast marine etc into a search engine, I got a fair few responses- hope you find what you're looking for!

Go to your local Travel Inforamation Centre they will have info for free on the coastline and lots of other advice to help.

You can search, request and order books online or have them delivered to your nearest Waterstones for collection.
