I'm cooking them now for dinner later today. The tradition comes from the south. It is believed that they bring good luck and you should eat one for every day of the year to ensure good fortune. You can check this out by the resourse provided. Love those peas!!!! Happy New Year!!!

I have eaten black-eyed peas all my life (almost 7 decades) on New Years day for good luck...

Where the tradition originated as far as I know dates back to the early days in the south. But why I have no Idea.

Happy New Year...and I have already eaten my Black Eyed peas...Have you?

I have had mine, they're especially good if you put ketchup on them. (it may sound gross, but it's actually good tasting!)
