One time on the transit bus I've asked one of my classmates if he could go sit somewhere else in a polite manner cause there were plenty of empty seats and I was kind of having a bad day and then 2 girls overheard me and got on my case about it and they've copped an attitude towards me?
Was I being rude to the person who wanted to sit next to me even if I was trying to ask him politely and was it also rude of the 2 girls to get on my case for what I did?
Since the girls did get on my case I ended up letting the boy sit next to me so I can avoid trouble.

Plus I've had this kind of experience before and I actually thought it was okay for me to do it.

Were you already sitting there when this person joined you?
If this is the case, maybe next time just put your bag down in the empty spot. I think it was rude of someone to sit next to you and not ask permission first (you could have been saving it for someone else).
But I don't know if this is the case, and women are rude and cruel and controlling and gossipy. I know, I am one. Just ignore them, they were probably saying something loud (you heard them) just to see if they could get a similar reaction out of you to talk about later at lunch.

Considering that you were having a bad day, which those girls overheard, and they made it worse, they were definitely much more rude than you were.
Whether or not you were rude in the first place I'm not sure. It's tricky to say you want to be left alone in just the right way without causing offense to someone who's company you might want at a different time. Next time you could have a book open and just say you don't feel like talking because you're into your book.
If it was a stranger, it's totally appropriate to tell them you want to be left alone.

would you have been offended if someone asked you to sit somewhere else without knowing why. just because you are having a bad day doesn't mean we can take it our on others. if you really didn't want to be bothered you should have just excused yourself and moved to another seat when i don't feel like talking to anybody on the bus i take out a book and read. i have found that feeling sorry for yourself when youve had a bad day is self destructive. sometimes it helps to take your mind off your troubles to talk to someone else.

No, this was not rude at all. Saying something like, "Could you please sit somewhere else? I'm having a bit of a bad day" is COMPLETELY acceptable. The girls who got on your case are the ones who are being rude.

Rather than asking your classmate to move, you should have simply excused yourself and moved, saying that you were having a bad day, and preferred not to have company.
The girls were rude to involve themselves in a matter that was none of their business.

At the time you should've addressed the issue of why you wanted some space with all 3. You weren't rude, the girls butted in your business. Is it too late to explain this to all or do you still care?

I don't think it was if you've asked politely, those girls should've minded their own business, I've had somebody telling me to leave them alone in a rather snotty tone and I consider that to be rude.

You should have just moved to another seat yourself, after telling the boy you were sorry, but that you were just having a really bad day, and not to take it personally.
