A cockapoo is a cocker spaniel + miniature poodle mix. Very cute little dogs with sweet personalities. Cockapoos are NOT a NEW "designer breed" --- they have been around for 50 years or more. The newer "designer breeds" include labradoodles (labrador retriever+standard poodle), puggles (pug+beagle), golden doodles (golden retriever+standard poodle), schnoodles (schnauzer+poodle), etc. Poodles are often in the mix, possibly because they don't shed like most dogs. The new "designer" dogs can be adorable but expensive, and they are scorned by legitimate, professional dog breeders. Disinformation about the merits of designer dogs abounds, so don't believe all the promises you hear. Remember that when 2 breeds are mixed, the result is not predictable. But I consider cockapoos in a category above "designer dogs" --- not a pure breed, but a mix that has withstood the test of time.

A mixed breed (1/2 Poodle, 1/2 Cocker Spaniel) bred by scam artists without scruples only interested in their personal profit: making money by selling puppies. They are NOT making a new breed, do no genetic testing, and are keeping mixed breeds in shelters from having a chance at a home. This also applies to Labradoodles, Puggles, and any other 'designer dog'.
It is wrong & a heartbreaking shame. Everytime someone gives them money for a pup, it only encourages them to breed again. People should either adopt a mixed breed from a shelter & save a life, or buy a legitimate purebred from a reputable breeder that is working to improve a breed & gets proper health clearances on their dogs.

Cockapoos are dogs, however, if you're talking about a bird, then you must mean cockatoo. Cockatoos are parrots that come in few colors, white or black. They live up to 70 years if kept right. They are smart birds, although they are known to bite extremely hard. One woman I heard about got her thumb broken from getting bit by her cockatoo.
