I am an Iranian.
I lost my father and brother during a war which was started by Saddam.
Saddam was not the only person who killed my family. Westerns supported him.
I lost my father by Saddam's order, your weapons (Americans!) and your money. My compatriots got cancer by Germans' chemical weapons and your money and support.
Saddam was not the only person who should be hanged.
Our sin was desire to be independent and free from colonialism. We wanted to control our resources and country by our own. We evicted Shah to have a democratic country. But it was against your acquisitiveness and your capitalists' interests. So you killed and displaced us and enforced a devastator war.
This is the result of violating moral principles, forgetting humanity and looking at every thing as a tool for gaining more money.
Of course I know you are propagandized by media and I can guess your answers.

We are looking forward to have a moral and peaceful world without any war.

I am sorry for the loss of your father and brother.

Iran's case was one where the U.S. openly supported the brutal dictatorship of the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his bloody repression of the Iranian people for more than a decade. Many Americans didn't know that this was the reason that fueled the anti-American sentiment that led to the Iranian Hostage Crisis. After the Shah's downfall, the U.S. switched to the Iraqi side and supported Saddam Hussein with weapons in Iraq's war against Iran, a war started by Saddam himself.

It is very sad to think that the U.S. had supported corrupt dictators like Pinochet, Noriega, Somoza, Marcos just to name a few, just to further its interests at the expense of hundreds of thousands who suffered under these brutal regimes. And yet, America always claim that it is fighting for freedom and democracy?.

And now America keeps on proclaiming to the world that Iran is a danger to America, a situation that resulted because of its own making...

Well Holmes you shouldn't have taken those hostages and realtions between a post-Shah Iran and the United States could have been normalized.

The Iran-Iraq war was not a prozy war. Besides, it was your own stupid leadership that sent your troops into battle in human waves with no weapons, only instructions to pick them up from the dead.

I am sorry for your loss. All governments (and media), (including your own government) can be insensitive to the decisions that they make.

The Soviets (Warsaw pact countries - East Germany, etc.) were the largest supplier of arms to Iraq (>60%), with smaller French, Chinese, Egypt, Brazil, U.S., and other inputs, etc. similarly overarmed Iraq.

The complexities and the consequences within Iraq and Iran as well as what happened (the use of human waves, poison gas, etc.) during the Iran-Iraq war were great and they continue to plague the world as we know it.

it is disheartening and sickening...
i hope for a meaningful peace as well.

Who took over for your Shah? And as to your moral and peaceful world, I assume that you mean a world without any war because the Jihad against the Infidels will be won, and Allah will rule, and women will have no rights, and Osama will lead you, correct?

Once again, a freakin' liberal blaming us for their problems. Blame the shi*head terrorists for killing your Father, not us.

It's about hi time stupid people wake up and take action against these terrorists at home and abroad.

We have different news outlets that let's us decide. We have a free mind, you and your country DON'T! Of course if you are talking about Fox News, any liberal hates a channel that let's the truth out and be heard. Sane people listen to it, ignorant people listen to CNN, Al Jazeera, etc.. So, if anyone is listening to propaganda, most other Countries only hear what their government wants to hear. That my dear is propaganda!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as our weapons, it was not us that pulled any triggers that killed your father. It is what others do with those weapons is the problem. DUH

All you politically correct goons need to stop blaming America for all YOUR problems. Stand up and fight for crying out loud, fight against the corruption and terrorism. But no...... just blame America.

SHEESH!!!

Well I guess if Saddam had never initiated it, then the rest would not have happened.

Can I ask you a question? Do you even consider that others have also lost family members and friends due to Saddam's tyranny?

What of the thousands of people who had nothing whatsoever to do with what was going on in your country? The people who were in the Twin Towers that day were minding their own busines, working to make a living to take care of their families, yet they were slaughtered.

Corruption effects all countries and people. It has to be stopped. How do you propose to do that? If we let it go and do nothing to retaliate don't you think that sends a message out there to everyone who wants to terrorize us saying "go ahead, do it again"?

According to reports by Hanna Batatu (a government reporter), Hussein rose quickly through the ranks, due to his extreme efficiency as a torturer.

A high-ranking member of the Revolutionary Command, the head of the labor unions, the leading Shiite member of the Command, and twenty (20) others are then systematically and personally killed by Hussein and his top party officials. During the next few days, reports indicate that as many as 450 other military officers, deputy prime ministers, and "non-party faithful" were rounded up and killed. This purge insured Hussein's consolidation of power in Iraq.

Throughout his rule, he unsettled the ranks of the Baath Party with bloody purges and packed his jails with political prisoners to defuse real or imagined plots. In one of his most brutal acts, he rained poison gas on the northern Kurdish village of Halabja in 1988, killing an estimated 5,000 of his own citizens suspected of being disloyal and wounding 10,000 more.

Mr. Hussein once sentenced his elder son, Uday, to be executed after he beat Mr. Hussein’s food taster to death in front of scores of horrified party guests, but later rescinded the order. The husbands of his two eldest daughters, whom he had promoted to important military positions, were gunned down after they defected and then inexplicably returned to Iraq.

Continual wars sapped Iraq’s wealth and decimated its people. In 1980, Mr. Hussein dragged his country into a disastrous attempt to overthrow the new Islamic government in neighboring Iran. By the time the war ended in stalemate in 1988, more than 200,000 Iraqis were dead and hundreds of thousands more wounded.

After the gulf war ended with the deaths of an estimated 150,000 Iraqis, he called “the Mother of All Battles” his biggest victory and maintained that Iraq had actually repulsed an American attack.

There is much more information people obviously are unaware of. People need to do some research before making a accusations.

Obviosly Saddam never gave any of his victims a "fair trial".
