Say a two-year old child dies. What happens to her? Does she get into heaven? There is a good chance she doesn't believe in God yet or accept Christiantiy. Will she automatically go to hell? If she gets a free pass, then what about a three-year old or a four year old? At what age do you not automatically go to heaven?

Now you are touching on the silliness of the concept of heaven and hell. It really belongs with Santa Clause and his elves. The concept of a God you can pray to and expect to be heard by him is kind of an anachronism...for a time when people had no understanding of the universe and our place in it.

The child that dies...is buried or burned. The soul disappears into the ether and is recycled. No heaven....no Hell. Sorry. A good and moral life is its own reward. No devil to force you to behave...no toys from Santa Claus to bribe you to behave...just a happy life. Isn't that reward enough?

The question of the age of accountability often causes concern. The age would be different for each individual. The Scriptural requirements to get into heaven are:

1) Repent of sin.
2) Believe in the work of Jesus Christ
3) Place complete faith in Jesus Christ to provide salvation.

You are not accountable until such time as you can understand these concepts. A three or four year old is not likely to understand sin and redemption, let alone substitutionary atonement.

Some precepts that show us this are below:

1) Children do not descend into hell upon death. When David's child died, the Bible records his witness. "But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." (2 Samuel 12:23). David will go to the child, but the child cannot come back to him.

2) God will not condemn the innocent. When Jonah proclaimed that God should destroy the wicked city of Nineveh, God responded - "And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?" (Jonah 4:11). The children cannot discern between their right and left. God refused to destroy the city because of the children.

that two year old child hasn't sinned or wronged against the Lord in any way. So why shouldn't he/she go to heaven? Don't we have a loving God. 2 year olds don't have the power and aren't able to "believe" in something. Once they reach the age that they can make concious decisions about their beliefs and religion they could possibly be judged. However, even if they have sinned our God would accept him/her into heaven. Even if they murdered someone they could get into heaven through reconciliation and forgiveness fom Him. Now Sadaam has almost no chance. The devil used him and many others to reach the people of Earth and touch them with suffering and killing. Now on a lighter note, why worry about it? Live a good life, be sure of your beliefs, and just maintain a steady close relationship with God. May he bless you in the name of the......

A two year old has no concept of religion so that child will automatically go to heaven however some religions teach seven and some teach as old as ten I personally feel that it depends on the child. I have heard of children as youg as 5 recieving christ. I feel that if for instance a seven year old dies and was never told about Jesus/God that he gets a "free pass" because they are not accountable for their actions yet. I do know that some religions teach that a child does not think independantly until they are thirteen.

Only when a child is able to understand and make that discussion. Say Mentally Handicapped child will never grow mentally past they age of say 7 then they will automatically go to heaven. No Child goes to hell. I think when you get to the age where you can make adult discussions and deny god this is when you can fall short, but does that mean you automatically go to hell I do not know. Everyone must make a choice to open the door to Jesus. But Jesus himself said let all the children come to me.

The age of accountability is 12. All children go to Heaven until they reach that age. They are mature enough by that age to know right from wrong. Our God would never send an infant or toddler to hell.

Why don't you read and study your bible, it has all the answers you need. Children mature at different ages, some never reach that age such as children born with downs syndrome but they normally reach the age of accountability at around 9 or 10 years of age.

its called the age of accountability. that means when someone can make a consious desions between right and wrong, usualy 4-6, though in some cases it never happens, such as a retarded child, they usualy cant make a moral desion, not saying they all cant, just some. if a child dies before it can make its own decisions based on right or wrong, free ticket to heaven.
