I got a mole removed 7 months ago, but the scar is stil there. It's probably smaller than a dime, but it's really bothering me and I feel selfconscious because of it and I think it looks more noticeable because I have brownish skin and it's pinkish (still a little bumpy, not flat). It's on my neck and I can't take it anymore, I'll do anything even surgery. I heard you can't totally get rid of scars, but can you tell me how much of it will be gone and how much it will cost? I'll try to save money and get rid of it anyway I can.
Thank You :D

♥ ♥ you really cant remove a scar by any other means than surgery which makes more scars.. but maybe that one would be smaller.. and only a plastic surgeon can tell you what you want to know ♥ ♥

You can have scar revision, which is usually covered by insurance. One procedure is called z plasty and works really well, I just had that procedure done on a scar I had on my eye, it's been 2 weeks post op and it's getting much better. I also use Palmer's Scar Serum and 100% Cocoa Butter and Mederma. I know it's a bit much but it helps. It also helps to massage the scar with lotion, my plastic surgeon recommended Elta Lite lotion, it helps to smooth the scar and flatten it. I hope this helps. You can see a plastic surgeon, most of them offer free consultations so you have nothing to lose. If you're near the Alexandria, LA area I strongly recommend Dr. Sozen 318-473-9003 he's one of the best in the business. Happy New Year.

Rosehip oil is supposed to be really efficient at removing scarring. Just type 'rosehip oil, scarring' into google search and you'll get heaps of sources explaining. Vitamin E also helps reduce scars on the skin. These are just some natural alternatives. While you wait for your scar to disappear, you can always use makeup or a coverstick of your skin tone blended onto the area to hide it.

This past May 22, 2013 I had total shoulder joint replacement surgery which left a good 12" scar. My surgen recomended applying Vitamin E Ointment. This was available at a local Health Vitamin Store. It's not completely gone but you would have to look close to see it. It's good for Dry Skin, Wrinkles. and Stretch Marks.

Mederma skin cream is excellent for treating all types of scars, even old ones. It can be found in the first aid isle of any drug store. It`s a little expensive, but it really works. I have used it on scars on my arm, and stretch marks. It won`t make the scar go away completely, but it will reduce it significantly. Only laser surgery can make scars go away completely.

Probably surgery. Not always, but it is a means of getting rid of scars.

Plastic surgery may be the only way. I can tell you that it bothers you more than it bothers anybody else. My ex had thyroid surgery and you could really only see the scar if you really looked and it bugged the he!! out of her but I did not see it unless I looked. No big deal.

You can try Mederma. It helped with my scar and you can't even see my scar anymore. I'm honestly not sure if seven months is too late, but you can try it. Good luck.

The best way is taking a vitamin E capsule and pucture it with a needle and rub it on the scar...it will help the skin repair and decrease the scar size and color.
