Over the holiday I was visiting some family and friends in the state I used to live in. While getting a ride home from a party at 3 am the driver swerved over the line and got the car pulled over. No one was drunk but I was arrested for a very small amount of marijuana(I was a passenger and complied fully with whatever the officer told). I went back to that state for my court date and was sentenced to fines and a year of "supervisory treatment". I am now back home in the state which I currently reside(and have lived in for a number of years). I have received a letter from the probation office telling me to report there next week. My problem is that there is no way I can make it there. I am not trying to avoid or outrun the law and I don't want any warrants issued or have the police in my town here looking for me. If i contact the probation officer is it possible that he/she will either transfer my probation to the state I reside or will monitoring by phone or mail suffice?

The best thing to so is contact your PO officer explain to them your situation and usually they are more than willing to work with you. The biggest mistake will be not to contact your PO officer because then they will issue a warrant and no they probably will not extradite you but when you go back there to visit you can be picked up and then it will be bad.

Failure to comply with the terms of your probation will cause you to be charged with a Violation of Probation and a Warrant will be issued for your arrest. If the marijuana possession was a misdemeanor, the warrant will only be active in the state where you were arrested and convicted.

However, contact your probation officer. You're not the first guy to get arrested out of state and cooperative interstate monitoring of probationers is a common practice. You will probably have to have the same sort of "supervisory treatment" in your home state but you can do it there and report to your local Probation department. It's not a big deal. Don't make it into one.

If you were to contact your probation officer that is assigned to you in the other state, that officer can switch it to your current state. If the terms of your probation are not met, you can get a warrant for VOP issued. Now for them to extradite you to the county you committed the crime in from where you live currently is next to impossible. This is due to the type of offense and your location. They normally only due that for serious or capital offenses. But this VOP warrant will stay on your record for a very very long time. And one day when visiting relatives at home you could be picked up. I would switch your probation to your current state and get it over with.

Failure to report will for sure cause the PO to revoke your probation and that will cause a warrant for your arrest.

You need to contact that PO and discuss with him/her your situation and see if you can transfer it somewhere else or just sit out your jail time there. Some POs will work with you, and some won't. I think in this manner depending on how far you live from that place you were arrested in, they have no choice to transfer your probation to where you live. Just call the PO and find out.

Good luck..

specific, you will want to get a lawyer. it rather is only on the instant forward journey. it somewhat is not ideal no remember if or not you're a reliable mom. Are you going to maintain asking this indefinitely? What answer are you wanting? You look very immature. you're ranting, and asking an same question many cases. the former day you asked a thank you to get your ex arrested, even whether you have not have been given to any extent further shown he's broken any regulations. You proportion custody, yet you whine you're truthfully not getting infant help. You ***** your son grew to alter into into put in daycare at your ex's cost. I even have not have been given any concept what's dealing including your head, yet you do not look to have sensible expectancies.

Let me suggest this. YOU WILL FIND YOU a way to get where you are supposed to be, or you will find yourself IN JAIL. very PLAIN AND SIMPLE. What ya NEED to do and do it NOW is call the probation officer and explain to him /her what you have just said. Be honest with them, they should be willing to help you. Call now do not wait any longer or you will end up with a warrant . Seriously.
