Yes, you aren't alone.

Most of the population is what you call extroverted. An extrovert likes being with people. He thinks that's the best way to spend his time. On an average Friday night, the extrovert will go to a movie, bar, invite some friends over.

A minority -perhaps only a quarter- of the population is introverted. An introvert likes being alone. He thinks it's the best way to spend his time. On an average Friday night, he will be at home, on his couch, reading a book or some similar solitary endeavor.

There's nothing wrong with you at all. I'm that way, and a majority of successful academics are introverts too.

Certain people do. Me and my wife are a couple that don't really have much to do with anyone because we don't like the hassle of other people. We go to restraunts during slow times of the day when there aren't many people And we don't go to the grocery store unless there aren't a lot of people there. My wife and I also require a certain amount of time by ourselves. There's nothing wrong with it. Introverts, like stated above are outnumbered. So what, "the masses" have a certain degree of robbing a person of their individuality. Don't conform if you don't want to. Be yourself, be unique. When alone my iPod is my best friend hintz the term "personal electronics". My mother said the reasons I've been a loner is because while everyone else is out there trying to get their way, I was busy going in the other direction making my own way.

Yes, I am and there are many more people in the world that are like this. In general, people are broken down into two categories when it comes to socialization: introverts and extraverts. Introverts (us) feel more energized during time alone, and often times find being in large groups socializing to be taxing. Extraverts are the exact opposite. They feel the most energized when socializing with many people. It's completely normal to feel the way you do.

Some people are refreshed being around others. Other people need a bit of solitude. You are probably not much different than most people unless you are planning to move to a cabin in the woods and avoid human contact all together.

Yup, many people are, including myself, however extaverts outnumber us greatly.

There is nothing wrong with you at all. You might also check out some sites on HSP and see if that fits as well.
