now let me get this straight. god has predetermined everyone's fate and destiny, but he gives us free will to change and/or carry out this will. forgive me, but I always thought predetermining was something like an arranged marriage and free will is the debutant marrying the rock star.
please explain how predertimination and free will can exist in the exact same context in reference to human actions.

I usually don't add irrelevant additional details, but I am really disgusted as to how christians can talk about anyone else and then lash out like some of the answerers here. If you can't answer the question go on to the next one.

Supposedly God knows everything that will happen, but we still have free will somehow. It doesn't exactly make sense.

For me, free will and predetermination are absolutely incompatible in the same universe. If God is omniscient, has foreknowledge and knows the outcome of my choices, then free will is an illusion created only by my limited knowledge of the ultimate and unlimited knowledge of God. A magician with a trick deck of cards can force the card he wants upon me while telling me to "pick a card, any card!". The fact that I don't know that the outcome of the trick and that it is exactly predetermined does not actually give me any freedom of choice along the way.

The ideas are not strictly contradictory. One could believe that God knows what you are going to decide to do, even though it appears that the decision to do it is up to you. Personally, I find no evidence to support the notion of existence of a god.

if I know what a baby will do when given a choice between two toys (because I know that baby and how it thinks) that doesn't mean the baby knows or that my knowledge limits the baby's actions. we have a freedom of choosing, not of choice.

God know exactly what's going to happen to us ,hopefully we will follow Jesus' example and pray that our Father's will be done not ours. He has our best interest at heart but it's up to us to choose him.

God doesn't want a bunch of robots. He doesn't want people to believe because they HAVE TO. He wants us to believe in Him and love Him because WE want to.
