If you were running around 4/5 miles a night thus 35 miles a week, is this considered excessive exercise (with gymnastics and karate too)?
Please help! Could this be the reason my period is (REALLY) late? note: im not pregnant.

Your exercise becomes "excessive" when it harms your physical or mental health, or is an outcome of a mental condition.

Unfortunately, I've just described every triathlete you'll ever meet.

It is not uncommon for female gymnasts to have their periods stop due to the amount of exercise. This can have serious health side-effects, including an onset of osteoporosis (brittle bones). In other words, you could break a bone during a workout or contest that you'd not otherwise break.

I'd contact your trainer, who should suggest that you talk to a MD or OB/GYN who routinely handles exercise junkies (grins).

I do around 25 miles a week on the treadmill and lift weights three times a week, and i've gone for years without having a period to having a very sporadic period. now i may not have a period for two months and then all of the sudden i'll have one. i went to the doctor and they said my estrogen levels were okay so not to worry. you probably have low body fat due to all your activity and when body fat frops below a certain point your period stops, usually one you quit being quite as active, they will return. you are probably fine and have nothing to worry about. i didn't have periods for years and i'm fine.

Yes I would consider it excessive (if not training for a specific event) and yes it can contribue to your period stopping.

in case you're workout lots inspite of no longer taking part in it, and you do it till you harm and not in the good "i myself gave it my all" way yet in the "i think of I broken something" way, then you definately are overdoing it and this is a issue. Over-workout could reason distinctive wellness issues: bone and muscle harm, coronary heart rigidity, blood rigidity issues and different issues that don't ensue to me actual now. you be attentive to, workout is a manner of purging. in case you experience the urge to "do away with it" after which you do something uncomfortable to realize this, you're purging. convey it up with your therapist or scientific expert, they ought to be attentive to and that they are going to be happy with you for understanding it and telling them.
