'Fast' and 'lose weight' are the two statements that are always put together and yet, are the biggest lie ever.
There is no way to loosing and KEEPING weight off real fast. 95-99% of diets fail. Why? Because once you lose your weight, you go back to eating how you did and then you end up gaining MORE than what you had originally.
I'd stick with eating healthy. A bit harder since it's a long-run investment but that's the only thing that really works in keeping your weight off.
But hey, if you into the whole, lose 10 pounds for one event...Don't eat a lot.

Minimize the junk food intake - DRASTICALLY - if you eat any. Eat a more balanced meal. Exercise at least 4 times a week - cardio, aerobics, w/ some weight training. As far as the weights, go w/ light weights and more reps.
If you can get a workout in the morning you'll feel more energized throughout the day.
There is a product called Tunguska Blast that actually helped me lose some weight (about 12lbs in a months time - along w/ what I was telling you above).

the best way to lose weight is to lose more calories then what you consume. But if you try to starve your body it will actually go into starvation mode and start hording calories. So do it slowly and over time it shouldn't take too long.

Stand tall: think of a string pulling up from the crown of your head. And wear a dark shirt or sweater.
If by "fast" you mean the next couple of weeks, eat really healthy breakfasts and lunches (esp. proteins, veggies and fruits) -- but eat nothing after lunch.

drink lots of water with and in between meals... this will help keep you full.
Stay away from fried foods and junk food.
stick with veggies and fruit and do aerobic exercises (like jogging or walking)
