I'm a guy and I have medium length hair. It looks like a "hat" really wierd...like the hair lies in very very straight strands around my head, and the bad thing is that it bends inwards creating a roundy shape of the head. Also, my hair has not texture, so when I try to use special Gels and stuff, it does give a lot of texture, but it looks dirty.

WHAT DO I DO? HELP!!!

see I don't reall have a problem with straight hair either, it's just that my hair has too much puffyness, eventhough I just got a haircut to get volume off, it's like, there isn't that much hair, it's just puffy, I want it at least sleek and texturized.

use a mop (Modern Organic Products - its brand eg like Loreal but better) curl-creating cream thing in a yellow bottle (http://www.hqhair.com/code/products.asp?PageID=98&SectionID=163&FeaturedID=2870&FeaturedProduct=4199&pID=1), smooth it all over your hair (but not your roots because that will make it greasy) and then use a hairdryer with a diffuser (the diffuser you'll need looks like this : http://www.totalvac.com/store/graphics/00000001/BABDF06.jpg )
and dry it with the diffuser. you use the hairdryer normally, but sort of scrunch your hair as you dry it to wave it
it might seem too girly, but it really worked for me, hope it works for you = ]

I don't think that this will really help you but long, straight hair is back 'in' and maybe if you sweep it to the side a little bit then you wont have to worry about gels and mousses and other products that, like you said, make your hair look dirty. Try a different shape or if you REALLY want to, go to a place like Fantastic Sams or another hair place (DO NOT GO TO GREAT CLIPS!!!!!!) and ask them or just look at some pictures and ask them how to acheive that style. GOO LUCK! Sorry I couldnt help.

It sounds like a styling problem.
If you use gel when your hair is wet or damp put the gel in and comb it into place you can let it dry naturally and you should have a style with movement.

Another idea is ask your hairstylist how to achieve the look you want. Bring in photo's and your hairstylist will be able to help you achieve this look with your hair type and texture.

Good luck

ok, i'm a girl...but i think i know what you can do to make your hair wavy. was your hair (with shampoo) then rub a towel on your head to get your hair semi-dry. your mom probably has some foam mousse in her bathroom (most women do) but if not, just buy a bottle of it at a drug store for like 2 bucks. squirt a nickel-sized pile of the mousse into your hand and massage it through your hair from your scalp to the ends. rub the towel in your hair again to give your hair body and waves. you don't need to dry your hair because that will just straighten it again. your hair should be wavy now. good luck! hope it works! xox

i think the problem is your hair isn't thick enough, you should get gel that makes your hair look thicker than it is, if you have straight hair you should buy some product that makes your hair curly(yep)
just use a small amount of it. it should give something to you hair,
i don't know what the big hype is about wavy hair i have it i hate it buy everyone i know loves it, they say they would love to have my hair & i say i would love to have theirs lol grass is allways greener on the other side of the fence

i thought a girl was posting this when if first read it. but for a guy hmmm....when you get out of the shower dont comb your hair down and ruffle it up a bit, then put a little hair spray or gel and it should stay wavy. it works for me so im asuming it would work for guys too, good luck!

you could get curlers or something, that would give you less flat hair, or, you could backcomb the hell ourt of it. Which would give it loads of size.
