You live in a dorm setting with advisors. They help you to complete your schooling (get a GED) and they teach you how to manage your money. They help you to get and keep a job. The basic point is to teach you how to function on your own without assistance from your parents. Generally it is for troubled youth. We are considering it for our oldest son.

Job corp is a place where they show you independence. How it works at the beginning is you call the 800 number and they set you an appointment to see a recruiter. They go through different location, the variety's of trade, and the health benefit's . All this is free nothing out of your pocket. It's for anyone ! I went to the one in San Diego. I'm a sou chief right now. Can't say for who I'm working for but I'm every successful because I went there. You learn to be independent and you meet new friends. You can be successful is you really want it. It's not true that is for trouble kids, yes some do go there but thats because they want to change there way. They also have a p rogram to get your ged. I went to job corp in 1998. I still talk to my old friend from Job corp .
