I would EXPECT to see just pastries. However, I do like it when a coffee shop offers something more such as soup, salad, quiche, and sandwiches. Just make sure they are fresh.

There is a place in my town called Jims Coffeeshop. There menu is huge, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They do a great business. People line up outside on the weekends. Bakeries are the only places that serve just pastries nowadays.

A good coffeeshop will have yummy sandwiches and soups and salads. A high end patisserie will have pastries.

If you're expecting to see sandwhiches and salads you would find that at a cafe. Some coffeeshops do serve that, but I wouldn't count on it.

The coffee shop I usually frequent offers them, so it's not that uncommon.
