Dandruff! The best way to get rid of it is to use some sort of shampoo that treats it. You are not going to get rid of it by just continuing to wash it with normal shampoo. I prefer the shampoo Head and Shoulders. Use it at least 2-3 times a week to prevent dandruff. For maximum control use it every time you shampoo. It also helps to massage your scalp with your fingertips while using the shampoo.
It is no big deal if you have it since it is easy to treat.

Its called Dandruff. Many people have this chronic scalp disorder, which is marked by itching and excessive flaking of the scalp. Although dandruff isn't contagious and is rarely serious, it can be embarrassing and surprisingly persistent. The good news is that dandruff can usually be controlled. Mild cases of dandruff may need nothing more than daily shampooing with a gentle cleanser. And stubborn flakes often respond to medicated shampoos. What's more, researchers have identified a yeast-like fungus that may cause or aggravate dandruff, a discovery that may lead to better treatmeAt one time or another, dandruff causes have been attributed to dry skin, oily skin, shampooing too often or not often enough, a poor diet, stress, and the use of too many fancy styling products. Although some of these factors may exacerbate or contribute to scalp flaking, the real culprit may be a fat-eating, yeast-like fungus called malassezia, formerly known as pityrosporMalassezia lives on the scalps of most healthy adults without causing problems. But sometimes it grows out of control, feeding on the oils secreted by your hair follicles and causing irritation that leads to increased cell turnover. The result is a large number of dead skin cells. As the cells fall off, they tend to clump together with oil from your hair and scalp, making them appear white, flaky and all too visible. Dandruff is a chronic condition that can almost always be controlled, but dandruff treatment may take a little patience and persistence. In general, mild scaling can often be helped by daily cleansing with a gentle shampoo to reduce oiliness and cell buildup. You can't prevent dandruff but you can take steps to reduce the risk: learn to manage stress, shampoo often, cut back on styling products, eat a healthy diet and get little sun. Good Luck Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That depends. In most cases, it is just dandruff which can be easily remedied with certain shampoos that contain saliycates(i.e., aspirin ) like Head and Shoulders, or tar shampoos, which is especially good for relaxed hair and will not cause your relaxer to revert. For tougher cases of dandruff, you may want to try shampoos that have sulfur in them.
It can also be product buildup as a result of overuse of hair sprays, gels, pomades, etc. One good product to help combat this is to use a product by Neutrogena that claims to remove the build up and you're supposed to use it every two weeks. If you are a person of color, Revlon's Herbal Deep Cleanse effectively removes buildup and neutralizes residual relaxer that may still be in the hair.
Some flakes may be a result of dry scalp and that can be remedied by using a weekly hot oil treatment like VO5 or Tresseme.
Dandruff is usually cause by excessive dead skin scalp turnover and accumulated oils. It is not something that you can catch, but if you use the products mentioned above, you will be able to either effectively manage it or it will go away on its own.
Many of the products that I have listed can be found in most grocery and drug stores, mass-market retailers like Wal-Mart, or beauty supply stores.

Dandruff, they have many shampoos and conditioners for prevention of it, i know that pantein makes a good one. I am not exactly sure on the cause, but i think it might be due to dry hair.
