both are lovely and dramatic, but if i'm picking, i like the first one a lot more. the thing to keep in mind here, though, is that the furniture in both of those rooms is so different. since the catalog is trying to sell you furniture, they've picked paint on the walls to coordinate with their items, set them off, make them look most attractive. i think the best idea for your personal living space is to think about what YOUR furniture looks like, and the items you'll be wanting to put in your bedroom, to help you pick between the colors.

Without bothering to go to the links, and with no offense to any reasons you may have, and after applying thousands of gallons of paint, I'll offer this.
I might consider it on one wall, and most especially in a "themed" room, IE: Oriental look,,,or perhaps in many cases a "Goth" look?
Certainly I've painted rooms in dark colors and I've never truly held with the thought that DARK creates SMALL. It hardly matters unless you have a closet sized room, that darkening it might cause one to feel closed in, just because of a color choice.
Beyond that My personal "spaces" within the space of a room might be confined to an area no larger than the computer chair I'm sitting at now. The rest of the area is pretty much wasted in its NON use.
There may not be any wrong of right answers here anyway. It truly is all about personal opinion and choice, and what works for you, might not, for someone else, BUT SO WHAT!
Dark walls suggest something. Whether or not that might be a focal point, or a way to add intrigue and interest is also a personal choice. If it's DARK you want, then subdued lighting, etc. will compliment that. If it's ACCENT you look for, then something contrasting in furnishings, lighting, or other colors, might be the way to "finish" the room.

Tile and curtain colors are very easy to combine with most colors. But the best colour scheme for your wall is green (Olive if dark, Lime if Bright, or other tones) to make an Earth and Soil appeal. Cream and other faded tones of yellow can also make a nice combination. These could either be plain paint or you can use wall adhesive papers with these colors, too.

I would definitely paint my bedroom charcoal! As long as its not jet black, and that you incorporate at least a bit of color. I'd suggest reds and dark browns. I'd pick the latter of the rooms.

I wouldn't paint my bedroom charcoal because it is too dark and i would feel trapped. I like both of the rooms, but if you like simple i would choose the first one; and if you like unique and exotic i would choose the second room.

Yes, I love it! I would go for it. I have a concorde grape bedroom with charcoal black trim and I love it. I liked the first picture better.

The first one.
There is nothing wrong with painting your walls a dark colour, however, if you don't want it to be too depressing, you need to offset the wall colour with lighter accents like baseboards, window coverings, floor coverings, pictures, bedsheets, etc. If everything is dark, it will end up looking and feeling like a cave.
Good luck!

I like both, but would probably choose the 1st link, dark green.
These dark colors look especially nice with white crown moulding. I would also like a slate grey, or a deep navy

I like the first one better. The charcoal color is a cool idea, but make sure you have a fairly large room with lots of sunlight or it will seem like a tiny little dungeon. lol Good luck!
