I mean they could buy a trip to Canada (it's only about $600) and then sneak the U.S. border in Canada?

This isn't news. Been going on for some time now. Just not getting a lot of public exposure.

BTW, a fence that covers less than 1/3 of the border is a complete and total waste of $$$. It's pure politics, nothing more, so that the politicians can claim to be "fixing" the problem.

Trouble is, we already have all the laws needed to solve the problem. If employers were hit with the maximum fines for undocumented workers, the problem would go away all by itself as there would be no jobs for undocumented workers. The minimal fines that are imposed are treated as another cost of doing business since it's cheaper to hire illegals at less than prevailing wages even after the fines are taken into account. If there were no jobs, most of the illegals would simply go home. The remaining common crimminals could then be dealt with by law enforcement instead of chasing down the poor schlubs that are just trying to earn some $$$.

the Canadian border is to far from Mexico. and the fence will be built. Canada wont play games with the illegals.

Obviously you have no clue about the illegal alien problem. Almost all of them couldn't come up with $20 much less than $600. The existing fences are climbed & tunneled under daily

The fence is just an expensive political diversion of the real problems in our country, such as corporate leaders who finance the crossing of millions to get cheap labor. The underlying cause has always been & will always be great differences in standards of living on opposite sides of the fence. Every country with poorer or oppressed neighbors have the same problems with both legal & illegal immigration.

Illegal immigrants have tremendous willpower and determination to come into a country with many job opportunities (an opportunity that bums on the street take for granted!) they will find a way ......there's also our amazingly corrupted officials down at the border who will accept extra cash to let them in.

Most illegals don't have that kind of money which is why they sneak into the USA and they'd have to stop in USA before arriving in Canada in which case they'd be shipped back to Mexico.

Canda is very strict on Mexican people coming into their country. I worked in Canada for five years and Mexicans are screened harder than any other Latin based person. I know this for a fact..

The fence would slow them down, but smugglers will find ways.

They need a Visa to go to Canada, they could just get a US Visa then.

A fence will impede them but it will not stop them from entering the US.
