Is it normal in American Christian houses for Children to stay seated if their mother is sweeping or working?

outside the kitchen? I just read a girl who said she was lounging on the couch, and her mom was sweeping needles. Is it normal for Christian children not to help their parent? What is the Christian teaching on showing reverence for your mother?

um i saw that question i think it is riduculous but my mom has cancer and she isnt going through chemo she has all her hair and my dad asks me to carry food i didnt and my mom id it wasn't even heavy he acts like she cant even hold anything but i do most of the work but i have bee lacking my dad wa vacuuming and i didnt felt bad so yeah i think we havet really made it something big but thanks your question helped me

as a child i was taught to do the housework.
not just look at My mother who already had to do a full days work
i was taught to do the laundry and wash the dishes and clean the toilet and bath tub. i was also taught to vacuum the house mop the floors and paint the house. I hated every minute of that kind of work, but living without a family ihave to do all those things anyway by myself as an adult.

It's impossible to generalize. Not every family is the same. Some children would help, some would not. It's like asking if every single person in another country behaves in exactly the same way.

There isn't any set of rules on this; the kid was just lounging on the couch, however it would be nice if kids helped their parents out once in a while.

What is "normal"? If you mean, is it common. It never used to be common. Today parents have stopped parenting and we have a generation of lost children.
