I developed a cough that seems to have resulted from congestion settling in my chest. I have chronic post-nasal drip, so the phlegm is no surprise, only that it's settled in my upper chest. It's my only symptom. Am I contagious?

I developed a horrible, horrible cough from guess what? Acid reflux, which is not contagious but it does scare people that hear it, even my Doc. He thought I was dying. So, there are many different sources to coughs. However, coughing does spread at the very least saliva, which could be unsanitary to others.

Peace.

It seems that you are suffering from an allergic cough witch is not contagious especially if you have prior history of allergies.

i do not believe that nasal drip is contagious... if you really need to know though ask your doctor you can give ur doc a call even. i really don't think so at all, but i suggest speaking to your doctor who gave you this diagnosis. good luck

You can have a cough that's not contagious, but yours sounds like it is.

Unless you're a smoker then it is more than likely contagious.

no, not unless you have fever with it....it sounds like yours is a result from the drainage and congestion.
