there is no real evidence that god exists. however there is no science that can disprove the existance of some form of creater of the universe. no one knows. so anyone who says there is no god with 100% certainty is also displaying ignorance. and yes im agreeing im as ignorant on this issue as everyone else.

Sure! The atheist doesn't believe in God and the Christian does. It's all fundamental.

A fundamentalist is a religious person who believes in the literal truth of their holy book. Although Fundamentalists are often fanatics, the word does not mean fanatic belief.
Since Athiests by definition do not believe in a God-authored holy book, they obviously cannot believe in the literal truth of such a book and therefore there can be no such thing as a Fundamentalist Athiest.

Oh good another religious type who has no concept of what an atheist is.
Heres one for you, you are an atheist regarding the other approximately 1,500 religions that mankind has invented, you are an atheist when it comes to Thor and Zeus, Bhudha and Shiva, we just take it one god further.
Edit:
There is as much evidence for unicorns, the tooth fairy and Santa Claus as there is for god, do you criticise me for non-belief in them, am I fanatically anti the Easter bunny because I do not believe in it? If you have any real evidence for god, any at all, I'll change from 100% until then..... And why are you not agnostic about Thor and Zeus, I have to take it that you are given your comments.

we are all equally ignorant on the subject. yes, even you oh middle-of-the-road-anyone-may-be-right agnostic. no one was there, no one has gotten proof of god's existance. no one saw the big bang. so we are all stabbing into the same darkness. the difference is simple: the atheist makes as few assumptions as possible and throws out any that are proved wrong. the religious make many assumptions (god and all he's done) and never throw any of them out, even after new proof arrives (e.g., the world is NOT flat, nor is it the center of the universe, but the religious leaders did not want to accept that).

Fundamentalist atheists are a rare breed in comparison to fundamentalist Christians so you'd be comparing apples and oranges-their views are unconventional and not representative of atheism in general.

I suppose by definition, a fundamentalist Christian totally rejects science and a fundamentalist atheist totally accepts science.

There is no such thing as a "fundamentalist atheist".
Atheists are not ignorant. They simply refuse to believe in the existence of something for which there is no proof.

This is pretty dumb.
I presume you're a theist from the sound of the question.
Why is the burden of proof on the atheist - you dont ask me to proof unicorns, leprechauns and dragons arent real do you?
Religion is about faith - which is literally a belief in the absense of evidence - they are set up to have an appreciation of ignorance. An atheist is not.

nice question, btw.
the way i see it, it doesn't have anything to do with intelligence to decide to be a fundie atheist or a fundie xtian. it's about faith, really.
i propose that any arguement against God can be refuted. don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to force anything on anyone. but i think John MacArthur said something very provocative: ''since belief is a moral, rather than an intellectual issue, no amount of proof will ever turn unbelief into faith.''
what it looks like to me is each side exercises the same amount of faith, whether to be for God or to disbelieve Him. Proofs can be reasoned as sound or foolish, depending on what the person chose to embrace as true.
