Because they're ignorant about the beauty and richness of the religion you already believe in. Ignore them, or educate them, according to the circumstances you're exposed to and according to your ability in patience.

I suppose for the same reason anyone wants to convert anyone else -- whether to a religion, a philosophy or a new diet -- because they think they have the Truth... or at least a better idea!
It's not just Hindus. :-)

muslims, jewish, and christians are the most focused on religion. although they have many similarities they argue constantly over which is true and which is false. the other religions are not given as much attention. i dont know about any muslims trying to convert hindus, but i havent tried to convert anyone. as for christians, they try to convert everyone :P

Wiccans don't. I personally could care less what religion you are so long as you keep it to yourself.

Christians, on the other hand, think that they need to convert anyone and will even do so at gunpoint if they have to because their bible tells them to convert everyone. They even harass people in their own homes.

Well every religion does because they see it as right. As long as religion is not pushed down ones throat then it is okay in my opinion.
