We have the Pols and all the Eastern bloc country illegals, and every other breed, whens it going to stop. The countries that these people come from are the pits so if they come here this country will ultimately go the same way.

Noticed people saying that the immigrants are better workers than Brits, well how long before they start taking your job for less pay, bet you will change your mind then. And Rob the DBC what shi**y job do I do, I own my own company actually, whats your excuse.

I am not angry at all not a jot Nani, but I can see the decline of this country and what we (our ancestors) fought 2 world wars to protect only to be flushed down the loo. Does their memories mean so little. Our country was built by people who valued high standards high morals. I do not object to genuine cases that are at risk but I hardly think the thousands that end up on our shores come under that category. Anyone read the news about the amount of people being killed on the roads and on the streets by illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers who have brought their crime ways here wrecking our society. Lync what planet are you on, the majority of asylum seekers come here for the freebies otherwise why don't they stay in Germany, France or Holland.

Amy_22, so you think its Ok for all us lot in the Uk to shy away from the older people in our country and leave it up to a load of poles to come in and clean their arses do you. Brits have being doing this for years. My beef is with this government not with the public. I have done some pretty filthy jobs to earn money, maybe not bums but I do what I have to. AND as regards the bandwagon believe it or not I do have a brain and can make some serious judgements myself by looking around at what is happening in this country.

Asylum seekers come here if they are in danger or fear for their life in their own country. That's what asylum means, not just coming to find work. So I wouldn't say we should stop that. Illegal immigration will never stop, it is illegal and something the government has no control over. It pisses me off but it will never stop. I don't agree with all the legal eastern European workers coming here. They are allowed to work for £3/hour or whatever it is and UK companies employ them, instead of us, as cheap labour. There are hardly any jobs where I live and hundreds of Polish people are getting the few jobs that are available. The government should ban any business from allowing someone to work at such a low wage. My boyfriend has to travel miles out of town just to get to work. I sold my house and it was let out to some Polish people. The bedrooms were tiny so they have converted the living room into an extra bedroom. There are 8 of them crammed in that house. I know this because a friend went to one of their parties. They are all really friendly and I don't blame them, I blame the government for allowing them to work at that rate of pay.
Yeah thinpin! lol, I just read her answer, so pissed off that she went and nicked some spaniards job! Aren't all the resorts on Spain just like a sunny version of Blackppool? All the English pubs etc, lol. Perhaps the Spanish don't want their country to turn into England either.
Edit again! lol, There is a genuine problem with Polish immigrants working at a low wage and I don't think everybody has realised this yet. British people do crappy jobs too, well people where I live do! We are not all above ourselves. My bf does 12 hour night shifts in a factory, my mother does nights cleaning other peoples arses too, I work on a checkout which isn't exactly a dream career. When everybody talks about these types of jobs being below us, then people will stop doing them. We have no choice but to work these crap jobs because they are the only jobs that exsist here. Just go to some working class towns and understand Polish people taking our jobs is UNFAIR. What about people in their 50's who are not educated enough to get a better paid job and then there being no low skilled jobs available to them, what are they going to do?

"Asylum Seeker" can only apply to a person who arrives directly in the UK from their country of origin. If they have passed through another safe country before arriving in the UK then they ARE illegal immigrants, unless the UK has agreed to their entry prior to arrival (which can happen for family reasons). Anyone who has left a safe second country to move to the UK for economic reasons should be sent back to said second country immediately - as an example, all the various Arab and African migrants milling around Northern France should never be granted asylum in the UK as they are already in a safe country. The French recognise that argument - it's why they briefly shut their border with Italy a week or so ago, and it's why they have now started passport controls again...they don't want all the North African asylum seekers who should be taken in by Italy to come over to their cities instead.

Poles are not asylum seekers - nor are they illegal immigrants. They are LEGAL immigrants who come here to look for work. If British people won't work for the wages that Poles get paid it's British people's fault, not theirs. Also if British people don't want to be pumbers or dentists it is not the Poles fault. Without immigrants there would be NO dentists in the country. When was the last time you saw a British one?
True - they come here to get a better life but if you lived in a country where you could earn £2 for being a plumber and had the opportunity to move to another country where you could earn EASILY 3 times that amount are you seriously saying that you'd say "No, I'm going to keep the rich country's race pure and not inflict myself on them" Of course not, you'd move there and earn your money.

It isn't going to stop! Many more countries are set to join the EU,so mass immigration will continue. This Labour Government does nothing to stem the flow of illegals, or asylum. While our Government continues to dish out benefits and "freebies", people will come for their share!! Britain is a soft touch!!It will only end when we have a Government that is strong enough to stand up to the EU and say enough is enough!!!

If these people are prepared to do work in this country that the current inhabitants are too lazy or too picky to do then good luck to them - if they want to work then they have money to spend in our shops, so helping our economy. Why not try and get to know some immigrants, if you do you will find that they are ordinary people, just like us, trying to make a life for themselves, rather than sit on their backsides waiting for government hand-outs like so many Brits do.

Read the daily mail do we?
When will people start to think more for themselves and stop believing the crap that sensationalist newspapers put out. How about relying on your own experience and research instead of that of someone who simply earns his crust by sensationalizing events and playing on people's fears and prejudices. You would be a thinking person wouldn't you? One that isn't guided by reports that tweak fears, prejudices and other emotions?
I've met very few illegal immigrants. I'm sure there are quite a few about, and I'm sure we'll work out the best approach in the long term. There isn't a guidebook out there to give a nice clear black and white answer. People fleeing torture and repression might be difficult to seperate out from profit seekers, so it's not going to be a nice quick easy question that someone with a bit of backbone can just fix with some nice right wing policies. Life is more complex than that.
As for cheap labor, legal migration of workers is another matter.
I've met several Polish guys who've been here a few weeks. One is a mechanic who I've watched at work. His English is better than my polish for sure :-), however his speed of working is another matter. He was fast, very fast.
I'd rather have him work on my car than several British mechanics I've met in the past. Despite having to print off my request via a translation site sometimes.
I wish sensationalist papers would stop influencing my countrymen's opinions. Because those opinions frequently lack factual information and contain simply sensationalist data guaranteed to provoke. Natural instinct to protect territory.
Someone that owns their own company and is in business would be someone that doesn't have time to sit fartarsing around on here with pompous opinionated claptrap like this. It takes too much common sense to successfully be in business for this nonsense to come out of the same brain.
If I am not competitive in the service I offered my employer and someone better came along, no matter where they are from, who's fault is it? Certainly not my competitors fault.

The Poles fought with us against the Nazis, surely we owe them a debt of gratitude. By the way, have you ever been to these countries? Do you have first hand experience?

Actually, it is people like you who piss me off. You jump on the immigration bandwagon without fully knowing what you are talking about. It is not beyond your basic intelligence to realise that these people (the Poles etc) do the jobs that arrogant snobs like you don't want to do? Or perhaps you'd like to volunteer your services for the 12 hour night shift as a healthcare assistant on a geriatric ward this evening? You will mostly spend the evening cleaning up after some poor old boy who has soiled himself, changing bedsheets and bed pans. Sound appealing? No, didn't think so. This is what the many Polish and other foreign nationals do every day and night, while you are safely tucked up at home slagging every other nationality off via your computer. It is people like YOU who are making this country unbearable.

when none of these countries have any population left and they're all resident here i would imagine. perhaps taking a leaf from the second world war classic the great escape, illegals travelling in the back of vans/trucks etc should pull over in the countryside so the occupants can "stretch their legs". then suddenly the tarpaulin is pulled off the back of a pickup truck in front.............and well you know the rest.

Do you feel the same about the Poles who settled here after the war? The ones that had served with the British Army and couldnt go back to their own country cos a big chunk of it was given to the Russians by Churchill, presumably as a big thank you for finally coming over to our side.
And the Portuguese who were imported in a job lot in the 80s by the government to do jobs that the British wouldnt do?
Or the Spanish nurses who were invited over when lots of British trained nurses went abroad for more money or gave up cos of the poor pay?
Or the West Indians that the government invited in the 50s cos we were short of men, what with a lot of them dying in the war?
And are you as vehemently opposed to Brits emigrating to better themselves. Like those who retire to sunny Spain or California and form little ex pat groups and never try to integrate themselves into the community.
